Bottom Line

The Americas Best Value Inn - Los Angeles/Hollywood is a small budget motel. While not in the nicest area of Hollywood, it is a short drive to a number of tourist attractions, such as the Kodak Theater, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Staples Center, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Rooms are a bit small, but have modern decor, making them a step above most budget accommodations. The motel has a small outdoor pool, free continental breakfast, and free Wi-Fi.

Americas Best Value Inn – Dodger Stadium / Hollywood

Scene

A effort at style makes this motel more welcoming than the typical budget option.

The Americas Best Value Inn - Los Angeles/Hollywood building has a vaguely Spanish meets Southwestern theme; it's painted in clay red and maize yellow. The facade looks clean and well-kept, as do the interiors, although there's little common space. The lobby/reception area is small, but not unstylish. A row of modern prints hang above a sofa covered with plush pillows. Next to the couch, there's coffee, juice, and pastries (which make up the free continental breakfast), but beyond a two-person table there's little space to eat. The hotel attracts budget travelers and is ideal for tourists who want a cheap spot to stay near Hollywood.

Location

Near restaurants, shops, public transportation, and Hollywood attractions

The America Best Value Inn sits on a busy road in an unattractive part of Hollywood, across the street from a dollar store and a tire shop. Like many places in Los Angeles, it's best to rent a car, but there are restaurants and shops in close proximity. The motel is a 10- to 20-minute drive from big attractions such as the Kodak Theater, Hollywood Bowl, and Staples Center. The metro is a short walk away. The airport is a 25-minute drive without traffic, but can take much longer to reach depending on the time of day.

Rooms

Small, but reasonably modern, budget rooms

The rooms at the Americas Best Value Inn are on the small side and can feel cramped, but they are clean and contemporary, and come with mini-fridges, microwaves, and cable TV with HBO. A step up from what can be found at many budget motels, rooms have a modern style, with sleek black furniture, simple three-photo frames of stones and rose petals above the headboards, and gray and maroon bedding. The bathrooms lose this touch however, and remain cramped, bland, and worn, with calcified shower heads, some of which have become detached from the wall.
