Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel

Relaxed and quiet, the Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel has a classic and refined old Hollywood style with Asian art accents throughout. Buddha statues sit at the entrance, while fresh flowers in chic, old-fashioned vases adorn all common areas. A grand lobby is decorated with a gorgeous chandelier with light tile floors, black armchairs, antique tan couches, and lovely vintage fixtures. The interior garden area is filled with greenery, and waterfall fountains lead down to a koi pond. The pool area is simple and elegant, with a pale stone deck lined with bright blue loungers, and with fountains built into the stone walls. A stone feature wall and dark wood floors make the on-site spa feel modern, while white, tufted leather chairs and flickering candles add some polish. Some guests mention that the waterfall fountains are too loud, though the property is generally serene throughout. The hotel lures a mix of business travelers and families, including many repeat and long-term guests who come for the reliably top-notch service, convenient location, and self-catering suites. 

The Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel is in a residential area on Wilshire Boulevard, about 15 minutes from the beaches of Santa Monica and 30 minutes from downtown. Within the immediate area are a few restaurants, and guests can walk to Los Angeles Country Club in 10 minutes, and shopping at Westfield Century City in about 20 minutes. UCLA and Rodeo Drive are both less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel, while the Getty Museum and Los Angeles County Museum of Art are around 15 minutes away. Los Angeles International Airport is about 25 minutes from the hotel.

All rooms at the Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel are spacious and stylish, with classic yet somewhat dated decor. Neutral patterned rugs and antique couches adorn the common areas, while cream tufted headboards and Asian artwork lend extra panache. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, minibars, and Starbucks coffee for the coffeemakers, while suites have kitchenettes or fully-equipped kitchens with full-size appliances. Extra comforts include bathrobes and slippers, and -- in some suites -- bedside iPod docking stations. Natural light floods in through large windows, and there are fresh flowers perfuming each room. Some suites have private, furnished terraces with pool or garden views. Some rooms are only accessible by stairs, though. Bathrooms are awash in tan tile, and have walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads. Suites' bathrooms have jetted tubs and glass-doored showers, along with flat-screen TVs. The full-service spa with hair salon, massages, body and cosmetic treatments, and facials is a major highlight for guests and locals. There’s also an on-site restaurant, Le Petit Cafe and Bar, which serves American food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has a small poolside menu. The food can be a bit pricy though, and receives mixed reviews. The outdoor pool offers blue lounge chairs and cabanas, but the standout feature is the wall of red marble lions' head fountains. There is an outdoor hot tub as well, but it is small. Room service hours are limited, and there is Wi-Fi, but it requires a daily fee per device.
