Bottom Line

The upscale Kimpton La Peer Hotel (opened in 2018) was designed to appeal to the fashionistas and designers who hang around the Design District neighborhood. The immediate West Hollywood location holds the Pacific Design Center and several hip bars and restaurants. The 105 rooms and suites subdued and stylish with gray and beige patterned tiles, string art wall designs, and sculptures. Public spaces focus on art and cozy spaces for commingling and working indoors in the lobby or outside on the covered patio. There's also a small pool, full bar, modern fitness center, and a popular Italian trattoria. Kimpton's signatures are here, too: pets allowed for free, free wine hours, and bikes to borrow. Kimpton La Peer Hotel

Scene

High design and local art scene from a hip hotel chain

Given the surrounding neighborhood's emphasis on fashion and style, it's no surprise that Kimpton tapped the Icelandic-born, Los Angeles-based cutting edge designer Gulla Jonsdottir to design and curate the hotel's artsy interiors. The memorably striking entrance features geometric blue tiles and a wrought iron art instillation with white birds. Inside, the indoor lobby features earth tones, custom abstract art, and various furniture configurations designed for working and mingling. Adjacent to the indoor lobby is the popular Backyard Lounge. The hybrid space holds a full bar, swimming pool and sun deck, and furniture for enjoying drinks or working on a laptop. It's no surprise that most guests here are young and hip, with a mix of tourists who love the Kimpton brand and locals who love the design and location. The hotel opened in 2018.
