Bahia Hotel & Beach House manages to blend a trendy convivial vibe with a laid-back beachy ambience. The open floor concept lobby leads into the dark and swanky Bar Esquina, which has a few flat-screen TVs playing sports. Popular with guests and locals, the chic bar and restaurant is usually bustling with guests getting ready for a day of exploring, enjoying an elegant meal, or prepping for a night out. The lobby leads out to the spacious pool terrace where Top 40 music is heard throughout the day and guests socialize by the casual swim-up bar. Like many traditional Baja buildings, there are open hallways at the Bahia with white rope hammocks for quiet relaxing. In downtown Cabo, a five-minute walk to the beach, a 40-minute drive to the airport
Although the hotel isn't directly on the beach, its location is one its largest assets -- just a block from the sand, within a short walk from dining, nightlife, shopping, and other activities that line Medano Beach. The immediate surrounding area is easily walkable. Mango Deck, one of the city's most notorious nightlife destinations, is just around the corner, while the touristy marina will take five minutes to reach on foot. Squid Roe, another party nightclub, is about 10 minutes away in an area packed with bars, cheap taco joints, and touristy shops. For a taste of more authentic street food, head to Calle Jose Maria Morelos, where vendors sling everything from churros to tres leches cake amid local shops and restaurants. It's a 45-minute drive to the quaint town of San Jose del Cabo, which has a happening arts scene and lots of quaint cafes and boutiques. The airport is outside of San Jose, a 40-minute drive from the hotel.
Stylish rooms with furnished balconies and luxe toiletries
There are seven types of rooms at the Bahia Hotel, and all of them are spacious, but there is a slight discrepancy between the Classic Rooms and the higher level Deluxe Rooms and Suites. Classic Rooms are simple with white walls and bedding, pus built-in concrete shelves for storage. Some rooms still have tube-style TVs. Most Classic Rooms have kitchenettes with stoves and dishware. Deluxe Rooms and Suites are more modern with dark gray floors, sleek stone countertops, and stylish love seats. All rooms feature flat-screen TVs, minibars, and nicely furnished balconies. Some rooms come with microwaves. There is an extra fee for in-room Wi-Fi.
Bathrooms feature a separated standing shower and toilet outside of the vanity space. Many bathrooms are stylish and feature sleek black sinks and black wicker baskets. All bathrooms come with Malin + Goetz toiletries, which is an especially nice extra. Some guests have noted that bamboo bathroom doors lack privacy.
