Bottom Line

Scenically set into the cliffs and offering gorgeous sea views, the picturesque setting of this mid-range hotel is its main highlight. The landscape is showcased from most public spaces, including the infinity-edge pool and two restaurants that offer alfresco dining. There are three other pools here, including pools for adults and for families, plus a kids' club and spa. Bright, simply decorated studios and suites have whirlpool tubs, while one- and two-bedroom suites add kitchenettes, living rooms, and private balconies. Units without kitchenettes lack some basic amenities, however, like minibars/mini-fridges and coffeemakers. Other nuisances include annoying time-share pitches and a daily resort fee that covers Wi-Fi and housekeeping. For something with more features, the Royal Solaris Los Cabos offers more dining options, activities and evening entertainment, and a water park.

Attractive mid-range resort set into the cliffs overlooking the sea

Occupying adobe-style buildings, this mid-range resort sits on gorgeous beachfront grounds that overlook the Sea of Cortez. The peachy/orange hues of the buildings mirror the surrounding terrain and permeate inside, where most of the airy common spaces let the outdoors in thanks to partial open-air architecture. The lobby is full of clusters of wicker seating and offers guests a first glimpse of the sea when they check-in. Dining spaces have a similar look, with a simplicity of decor that allows for the scenery to take center stage.

And the scenery is the highlight here, after all. Gorgeous sea views unfold all around, with cliffs tumbling into the water and a beautiful stretch of sandy beach sitting at the foot of the property. Well-maintained grounds are studded with cacti and desert plants and the hotel's swathe of green lawn stands out against the earthy orange surroundings.

Guests are mainly American families and couples on vacation, particularly those seeking some sun and beach time during the winter. Note that past guests have complained of pushy time-share pitches that can be annoying.

Features

Four beautiful outdoor pools, two restaurants and bars, a shop, kids' club, and spa

The gorgeous scenery is the highlight, and perhaps the best place to take it all in is on the hotel's gorgeous stretch of sandy beach. The shore is lined with loungers and some umbrellas. Another highlight are the outdoor pools (there are four), which include a beautiful infinity pool that overlooks the beach and has a poolside bar. There's also an adult-only pool, as well as one for families.

There are two restaurants on-site: Inizio, which serves Mexican and international fare for breakfast (for a fee) and dinner and has a lovely alfresco terrace with beautiful sea views; and the open-air Altura that offers lunch and snacks. There are two bars as well, Bar Vajra and the lobby Magic Breeze Coffee & Bar. Room service is available. There's also a shop that sells snacks, drinks, souvenirs, and sundries.

Families are catered to with a kids' club. Other features include a spa that offers a number of massages and other treatments. Though there's no fitness center, guests have access to one in the neighboring hotel (for a fee).
