Bottom Line

While the suites at Marbella En La Playa are not impressively decorated or luxurious, they are some of the most spacious, clean and affordable in Baja California. They vary wildly in their offerings (some have full kitchens while others only have a microwave and empty mini-fridge), but they all have lovely views. The pool area is nice and shaded, if a little small and oddly laid out, and the Jacuzzis offer great ocean views. The attractive beach is the real draw, and replaces the booze-fueled parties of nearby Cabo with laid-back bonfires. The secluded surroundings cater well to couples or relaxed families.

Marbella Suites en la Playa

Location

A secluded spot in the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo

The Marbella Suites en la Playa is located directly on the beach in the area called the Tourist Corridor. Unlike in nearby Cabo, the beaches here are much more sedate and relaxed, making it ideal for couples or relaxed families looking for less of a party. That being said, bars and restaurants are only a cab ride away for those looking to take in some nightlife.

One reason why Los Cabos remains a staple in the beach resort world is its California-esque vibe. It almost feels like an extension of Southern California, with similar deluxe accommodations, striking golf courses, and high-end shops.

All posh-ness aside, Cabo San Lucas still presents visitors with stunning scenery and a distinct Mexican charm, especially around the coastline. The large cluster of rock formations on Land's End is famously beautiful, and there's great whale watching January through March (particularly in March). Old churches, charming restaurants, and handicraft vendors prove that this town is more than just a wild spring-break getaway.

  • 27-minute drive to Los Cabos International Airport
  • 6-minute drive to Santa Maria Bay
  • 10-minute drive to Playa Hotelera, a surfers' paradise
  • 13-minute drive to Palmilla Golf Club
  • 13-minute drive to Medano Beach
  • 17-minute drive to San Jose del Cabo, a quaint historic town
  • 17-minute drive to the point where boats leave for the famous Playa del Amor
  • 17-minute drive to the Cabo San Lucas Marina
  • 19-minute drive to downtown Cabo's party spots
  • 23-minute drive to great views of Land's End, a picturesque rock formation on the coast
  • 26-minute drive to the historic stone church, Iglesia de San Lucas
