Summary

Pros

  • Peaceful location away from Cabo's party atmosphere
  • Spacious rooms with palatial bathrooms and great views
  • All-inclusive concept includes meals, activities, and entertainment
  • Two large pools, one designated for relaxation, one for activities
  • Wide variety of dining options from Asian fusion to pub food
  • Variety of evening entertainment such as a Michael Jackson impersonator
  • Decent-sized fitness room with primarily cardio machines
  • Scenic resort with manicured grounds and swim-up bar
  • Wi-Fi available in all rooms

Cons

  • Rooms and balconies are small compared to other area resorts
  • Pools get crowded and lounge chairs taken early
  • Rooms near activity pool can be loud
  • Water too rough for swimming most of the time
  • Must take water taxi or shuttle to reach central Cabo San Lucas

Bottom Line

The Riu Palace, located right outside of party-hearty Cabo San Lucas, is packed with entertainment. This colossal 642-room all-inclusive resort offers meals at six restaurants, activities, and nightly entertainment -- such as a Michael Jackson impersonator -- all included in the price. Spacious rooms have palatial bathrooms and great views, but furniture could use an update and there are no duvets -- only old comforters. Perks include two large pools, one designated for relaxation and the other for activities, along with a swim-up bar and decent-sized fitness room. While the resort is scenic with its manicured grounds, there are complaints about pool crowds and lounge chairs taken early. Water is also too rough for swimming and taxis are required to reach central Cabo San Lucas.

Map of Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas - All Inclusive

Riu Palace is located just outside downtown Cabo San Lucas, next to its sister property, Riu Santa Fe. It's right across the bay from Land's End (home to sites such as El Arco and the secluded Lovers Beach), and many guests choose to get to the sites by water taxi.

Cabo San Lucas is located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. This beach town is part of a stretch of coastline collectively known as Los Cabos -- the Capes -- and has long been a popular vacation spot for sun-worshipping party seekers. Hence the nickname Cabo San Loco.

  • 40-minute drive to Los Cabos International Airport
  • 2-minute drive to the boat launch for the famous Playa del Amor
  • 5-minute drive to Boulevard Marina for shopping
  • 7-minute drive to downtown Cabo's party spots
  • 7-minute drive to the Marina
  • 7-minute drive to the historic stone church, Iglesia de San Lucas, established in 1730
  • 8-minute drive to the Cabo San Lucas Country Club golf course
  • 10-minute drive to great views of Land's End, a picturesque rock formation on the coast
