My Dream Boutique Resort is located on the opposite side of the Nam Khan River from the old heritage area of Luang Prabang. It is quiet on this side, and the resort has large and lush grounds overlooking the river, with gazebos and daybeds to lounge under while watching the river flow by. The rooms here are divided between rooms and bungalows, all of which come with large terraces to sit out on, plus they have flat-screen TVs, minibars, safe boxes, and hot water kettles for tea and coffee. Bungalows are far more spacious than rooms, and have nice rattan furniture as well as finely finished wood floors. The resort has a small but inviting pool and a restaurant overlooking the pool, and provides guests with free bicycles to go to town. You pay a bit more here than at nearby properties like Thongbay, but you get a lot more in quality, and the staff here gets rave reviews for their attentiveness.
Scene
This eco-friendly spot along the banks of the Nam Khan River feels low-key.
My Dream Boutique Resort is a tranquil and serene spot. One has to walk through a tunnel of flowering plants down the narrow drive to enter the property, which then opens out onto the Nam Khan River. The lobby area is tiny, but has an adjoining restaurant overlooking the pleasant swimming pool, and one is surrounded by flowers and plants on all sides. Further down, the property fronts the river and there are several salas (gazebos) that have cushions and mattresses to recline on while watching the river flow by. It's a very green and eco-friendly spot, and a perfect place for those who don't want any intrusion and want to experience the sleepy side of Luang Prabang.
Location
Quiet location on the opposite side of the Nam Khan River, close to the airport
My Dream Boutique is set on the opposite side of the Nam Khan River from the old heritage area of Luang Prabang. It's only a five-minute drive from the airport and northern bus station. While it is outside of the town proper, one can use the free bicycles provided by the hotel and either cross the motorcycle/bike-only Old Bridge to get into town in a few minutes, or else go down to the Nam Khan and pay to cross the bamboo bridge which leads into the UNESCO area and all the temples. Otherwise, one needs to take the free tuk tuk shuttles or hire a taxi to get into town. The location is very quiet and peaceful, away from the crowds. One drawback of this is that there are not so many shops or restaurants to choose from on this side of the river.
Rooms
All rooms have terraces to sit on, while bungalows feature fine wood floors and rattan furnishings.
Guests can opt for a Classic or Deluxe room here, or go for the more upscale and larger bungalows or villas. All rooms come with flat-screen televisions, hot water kettles for making tea and coffee, minibars, and safe boxes, and feature large terraces to sit on. Rooms have mosquito netting for the beds, and both air-conditioning and fans, and all come with free Wi-Fi and breakfast. The standard Classic rooms have very narrow small beds, which are just pushed together when guests request a double, and the rooms are a bit cramped for space. The showers are also not very special, just a fixed spigot, no rain shower or movable nozzle. The Boutique and Dream bungalows are a bit fancier, in that they have finely finished wood floors, rattan furniture, and far more space; plus, they have separate bathtubs.
Features
Small swimming pool, spacious grounds, and garden along the river with gazebos for relaxing in
My Dream Boutique Resort has a small but inviting swimming pool that sits just below the hotel's lone restaurant, which serves free breakfasts, plus Lao and Western meals for lunch and dinner. The best feature of the resort is its spacious garden, which fronts the Nam Khan River and is a peaceful and relaxing spot to hang out in. There are several salas (gazebos) here with cushions and mattresses (and even power outlets) to recline on, and are great spots to nurse a beer, read a book, or just watch the river flow by. The resort doesn't have any other facilities, but it does have free bicycles for guests to use, plus a free shuttle to town several times per day.
