NH Madrid Chamberi

The NH Madrid Chamberi was renovated in 2016, resulting in an attractive, minimalist feel that incorporates lots of natural materials and neutral tones. The lobby's dark marble floors, slatted ceiling, and accent walls with a moody forest scene and black graphic designs are stylish, but the centerpiece is a sculpture made from rings of burnished, rusted metal stacked one atop the other. The restaurant and bar is decorated in a shabby-chic style, with rustic wood paneling, country plates hanging on the walls, and metal chairs with brown-leather cushions. Shelves of wine and a chalkboard menu complete the look. Guests are a near-even split of business travelers in Madrid for work, and tourists looking to explore the city without staying in the pricier center of town.  

The hotel is located on a small side street in the Rios Rosas neighborhood of the Chamberi district. There's plenty of restaurants and nightlife in the immediate area, and a metro station is located within a block of the hotel.

Rios Rosas is one of six major subdivisions of Chamberi. It's a surprisingly pedestrian-friendly area located close to the financial district. A subtle and charming blend of corporate offices, residences, and lots of nightlife geared towards people in their early 30s make up this neighborhood. Low-key partying, dining, and convenient access to other areas of the city make it popular with young professionals and well-heeled couples.

The NH Madrid Chamberi's 56 rooms are all decorated similarly to downstairs, with natural materials and neutral tones, albeit in a lighter and less-busy fashion. They have minimalist white wooden furniture, wooden floors, soft-tone walls, and bed linens, though some add red bed throws or armchairs. Standard Rooms have either two twin beds or a queen-size bed, as well as a desk and chair, while upgraded units have space for a foldout bed or separate sitting spaces. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, wardrobes with safes, minibars, and free Wi-Fi, but only higher-category units come with kettles or Nespresso coffee machines and bathrobes. Some Junior Suites and Super XL Rooms have terraces with smart wooden furniture. Marble bathrooms have rainfall showers or shower/tub combos, plus NH-brand toiletries and quality hairdryers.

The NH Madrid Chamberi has the typical amenities for a mid-range city hotel, lacking a pool, gym, and spa. As is typical with the NH brand, an expansive buffet breakfast is offered (included in some room rates), consisting of a variety of charcuterie and cheeses, breads and pastries, churros, and tortillas. By night, the breakfast room doubles as Arzabal restaurant and bar, serving traditional Spanish tapas and a variety of drinks. A business center is on-site, and a conference room with audiovisual equipment can be rented. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the hotel.
