Sonesta Ocean Point Resort

Opened in May 2015, Sonesta Ocean Point was designed as a more exclusive alternative to its adjacent sister property, Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino. Although the two resorts are joined, the contrast between them is unmistakable from the moment guests arrive. Guests at Sonesta Maho enter via the resorts’ shared street entrance, while guests at Ocean Point are whisked by
golf cart to another lobby found at the back of the property. This stylish lobby features rock walls and boxy, high-backed chairs and
couches. Guests are greeted with glasses of Champagne and given all-inclusive bracelets made of soft cloth that also act as room keys. Ocean Point is an adults-only resort, and the overwhelming majority of its guests are couples. The vibe is quiet and refined, contrasting noticeably with the Maho Beach property, which is popular with families. Guests can expect to encounter much more noise and activity when using Maho’s facilities.

Sonesta Ocean Point Resort is located in Maho Village, one
of the main entertainment centers on the Dutch side of the island. The touristy street in front of the resort is packed with restaurants, shops, and bars. The island’s largest casino and popular Tantra nightclub are among the most notable attractions, both a six-minute walk away. The area is ideal for guests who like to stay in the center of the action, but it's not the best fit for those seeking a peaceful retreat.

Along with its sister resort, Sonesta Ocean Point features direct access to Maho Beach. This small beach is located just in front of Princess Juliana International Airport, and offers an unusual
opportunity to watch planes coast low over its white sands as they approach the airport runway. However, note that Maho Beach is small and gets crowded with guests from the other nearby hotels and resorts, as well as hawkers. The resort is located a 25-minute drive from the Dutch capital, Philipsburg, and a 20-minute drive from the French capital of Marigot.
Mullet Bay Beach can be reached in a 15-minute walk.

The large rooms at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort have pale wood
furniture and an understated color palette of grays and blues. All rooms include comfy beige sofas along with small dining tables or other big-cushioned chairs. Minibars offer water, soda, and beer, along with four full bottles of liquor, including Beefeater Gin and Ballantine's Scotch Whisky. Rooms also have Nespresso coffeemakers, mobile-device USB charging stations, and beds with
400-thread count cotton bedding. Private balconies or terraces are furnished with white wicker chairs and round, glass-topped tables. Swim-out suites feature direct access to a narrow pool that runs along the front of the resort. Bathrooms have huge vanities with above-the-counter sinks. All include glass walk-in showers, many with rainfall shower heads and deep soaking tubs. Accent walls with bold blue tiling pop against the otherwise neutral color scheme. Roomy countertops are stocked with a line-up of Molton Brown bath products. Some suites offer kitchens, multiple bedrooms, bathrooms with dual sinks, wrap-around terraces, and butler services, among other extra perks.

There are plenty of features at the Sonesta Ocean Point. The hotel’s restaurant, Azul, is perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking Maho Bay. The restaurant’s Mediterranean menu pairs nicely with its whitewashed walls and breezy, open-air layout. A la carte menus are offered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there's buffet service at breakfast and lunch as well. The restaurant’s rooftop is available for wedding receptions and other private functions.

Azul faces toward the Edge Pool, a shimmering infinity pool
with views of the bay. The area around the pool features a sandy man-made beach with lounge chairs, daybeds, and beach umbrellas. This beach-like pool is a popular alternative for guests who prefer to avoid the crowds on nearby Maho Beach. The hotel’s main pool, the medium-sized Point Pool, offers yet more spectacular views of Maho Beach. It's surrounded by a stone deck furnished with loungers, beach umbrellas, and chic clam-shaped daybeds with pillows.

Sunset Lounge and Bar features dramatic, 360-degree vistas
over the ocean and the resort. Drinks are also available at Martin’s Bar, which is located in the hotel’s classy lobby. Massages are offered in a lovely gazebo overlooking the ocean. The Ocean Point offers free hotel-wide Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, and wedding planning services. Self-parking is available on-site for a fee.
