Hotel Amic Gala

With its combination of concrete pillars, clean contemporary lines, and exposed rock walls the lobby area of the Hotel Amic Gala is not unstylish, and a glass-fronted facade usually lets in ample natural light. Beyond the reception area, the rest of this budget property looks dated and tired. Corridors show signs of wear and tear, and the hotel is generally poorly updated throughout. Aside from the old-fashioned dining room and bar, there's little else to the hotel. The only outdoor space is a small terrace overlooking the road. Staff, however, is reported as friendly and accommodating, servicing budget-conscious couples and those with an early morning flight.

The Hotel Amic Gala is located on the southern coast of Majorca, in the relatively quiet seaside town of Ca’n Pastilla. It's just half-a-block from a long sandy beach that stretches miles along the coast. Running along this wide sandy bay is a long promenade lined with shops, bars, and restaurants that extends all the way to the lively nightlife of El Arenal. Palma Aquarium is just about within walking distance, and nearby buses connect to the island's capital Palma in a little under 40 minutes. The hotel is also conveniently located for Palma de Mallorca Airport, which is about 10 minutes' drive away. The number 21 bus, that goes to the airport, stops just a few hundred feet in front of the hotel. 

The hotel has 126 air-conditioned Standard or Superior Rooms in singles, doubles, and triples. Standard Rooms are dated with old-fashioned furniture, tiled floors, and textured walls. Superior Rooms feature nice contemporary furnishings, smooth paintwork, and wood veneer flooring. All rooms open to furnished terraces or balconies, mostly overlooking the road (which can be noisy) and surrounding buildings; some look out to a dingy courtyard. Basic amenities include flat-screen TVs and old-style safes. Superior Rooms add mini-fridges. The lobby's free Wi-Fi reaches some lower level rooms. Although some bathrooms are well-maintained, others show signs of mold and are in need of updating. All bathrooms come with shower/tub combos, wall-mounted hairdryers, and packets of toiletries and bar soap.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals are served buffet-style and not included with the room rate. A good variety of hot and cold dishes are served, along with some a la minute options, like pancakes in the morning. Majorcan cuisine is specially served on Sundays. A la carte options are not provided. There's also a bar that opens to a road front terrace. Bike rentals are available through the hotel. Wi-Fi is free in the public spaces, and there's an available well-lit meeting room with floor-to-ceiling windows. Guests have use of the swimming pool at the neighboring sister property, Hotel Amic Miraflores, one minute away.
