With plate-glass windows that grant stunning views over Canyamel’s bay, and chic, minimalist furniture given an organic twist, the Melbeach Hotel is a tranquil spot for a beach getaway. Its shared areas are decorated in shades of creamy shade and muted beige, including white leather couches and innovative floor lamps made out of tangled knots of driftwood. Sat on Canyamel’s beach, a rugged, sandy bay shaded by gnarled olive trees, the Melbeach Hotel benefits from a tranquil, seafront location that is nonetheless next to the center of town. Canyamel is a tiny city, with a limited number of restaurants and shops, and very little in the way of nightlife or shops. The town also attracts a majority of German travelers and as such, caters to them. The nearest large town is Cala Ratjada, a 20-minute drive away, while Palma is an hour away by car. Expect transfers to Palma Majorca Airport to take 70 minutes by car.

Much like the shared areas downstairs, the 32 rooms are large and bright, and decorated in a cool, minimalist style with an organic flair. Expect grayish wood floors and light-wood furniture, white walls embellished with muted artwork and sea decor such as starfish and driftwood, and bed runners and throw pillows in a soft shade of olive green. All rooms have furnished outdoor spaces with wonderful sea views. Standard rooms are sizable and have desks with ottomans, while Superior Rooms add leather couches. Suites, meanwhile, have rooftop terraces with stunning panoramic views and private hot tubs. Bathrooms across the board are clean and modern, equipped with walk-in rainfall showers, bathrobes, hairdryers, and upmarket toiletries. Flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and free Wi-Fi come standard.

The Melbeach Hotel's amenities are largely geared toward relaxing. The highlight is the direct access to the sandy beach lined with loungers and umbrellas. There is also a small infinity pool that overlooks the ocean, set in a wooden terrace with a limited number of loungers, though there's also an adjacent area with plenty of loungers and Balinese beds. For additional tranquility, the spa has treatment rooms for massages and wellness therapies, a sauna, Turkish bath, hot tub, and tiny outdoor pool. A sea-view gym terrace is on-site, but it only has two bicycles and a cross-trainer. Past guests give positive reviews to the continental buffet breakfasts offered, as well as the restaurant's dishes of upmarket Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner. A pool bar serves light meals and snacks throughout the day and into the evening. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property.
