Bottom Line

The Son Moll Sentits Hotel is an upscale, adults-only property with a prime position set overlooking the pretty beach of Cala Moll in the laid-back resort of Cala Ratjada. Like the hotel as a whole, its 127 guest rooms are bright and contemporary in style, many featuring balconies with outstanding sea views. Spa facilities, a top-floor bar-restaurant, and saltwater infinity pool also make the most of the setting offering superb vistas -- though the pool is undeniably on the small side. Breakfast is always included and a real highlight, while food quality is generally impressive across both buffet and a la carte dining. Ultimately, it's one of the pricier options but you certainly get what you pay for. The nearby Hotel Serrano Palace is a slightly cheaper, four-pearl option with an excellent spa, though generally a little dated and not child-free.

Son Moll Sentits Hotel & Spa

Scene

Upscale adults-only hotel with swish, contemporary architecture and interiors

Opened in 2014, the Son Moll Sentits Hotel is one of the newest arrivals in the resort of Cala Ratjada -- and it looks it. Swish, contemporary architecture in shades of gray with clean-lined, glass-paneled balconies make this hotel immediately stand out from its more dated neighbors. And stepping inside, the ultra-modern feel continues, with a bright uncluttered space minimally furnished and decorated in a muted palette with gold accents; a signature scent adding to the upscale vibe. A sense of calm pervades the property, with the concept of the hotel geared toward total relaxation -- helped largely by the child-free, adults-only environment. A pair of very 21st-century elevators ferry guests to one of nine floors, each with spotless hallways lined with backlit paneling, and up to the fantastic panoramas from the top-floor bar-restaurant. Clientele tend to be well-heeled German tourists, and almost exclusively couples.

Location

Beachfront setting within easy reach of Cala Ratjada's dining and low-key nightlife

The hotel has an enviable position set right overlooking the pretty beach of Cala Moll on the edge of the coastland resort of Cala Ratjada. It's also just steps from the seafront promenade, dotted with bars and restaurants. It extends to the resort center, reached in about 10 minutes on foot, where the buzzing Harbor District and most of the resort's dining and low-key nightlife is found. While there's a sleepy, fishing village vibe off season, numbers swell in the summer months -- mostly with German vacationers -- with beaches sometimes feeling a little crowded. The historic towns of Capdepera and Arta are a 10- and 15-minute drive, respectively. Positioned on the far eastern point of the island, the hotel is remote from the capital Palma and Palma de Mallorca Airport, taking up to 90 minutes by car.

Rooms

Bright and modern, with customizable mood lighting and free, zippy Wi-Fi

The 127 guest rooms and suites are finished in a clean and bright combination of wood-effect flooring, contemporary design furniture, and muted tones. Pebble motif and amorphous mirrors add some playful elements, while lighting and mood can be customized with a remote control. All rooms open to balconies furnished with a pair of traditional Majorcan rocking chairs. Superior rooms and suites offer glorious views over the beach and sea -- even from the bathroom. Most entry-level rooms overlook the street, with some offering partial side-on sea views.

Air-conditioning is individually controlled, and all rooms come with at least 32-inch flat-screen TVs, well-stocked minibars, and free digital safes. In-room Wi-Fi is free of charge and the speed is excellent. Superior rooms and suites add Bluetooth speakers, Nespresso machines, and pillow menus. Clean, modern bathrooms come with walk-in rainfall and hand-held showers, proper hairdryers, and quality toiletries. Suites also feature whirlpool tubs overlooking the sea.

Features

Infinity pool, spa facilities, and top-floor restaurant, all with sea views

While not huge by resort-hotel standards, the Son Moll Sentits squeezes in an impressive range of facilities. The outdoor saltwater swimming pool is a bit on the small size, though long enough for a swim and with an infinity edge overlooking the Cala Moll beach. While there's a decent number of loungers, with limited sun terrace space they are positioned a little too close together for some. The spa also makes the most of the views, with a therapy pool, sauna, and fitness room all with windows facing to sea; other facilities include an aromatherapy spa, ice fountain, and treatment rooms. While the hotel offers direct beach access, it doesn't provide water sport equipment.

Breakfast is always included in the rate, and offers an extensive buffet of cold and pre-cooked items, as well as eggs cooked to order. An optional half-board rate covers a buffet dinner with live cooking, and both meals are served in the ground-floor Baix restaurant, which opens to a poolside terrace. The most spectacular views in the hotel can be found in the top-floor Attik bar-restaurant, with wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows and even an alfresco terrace. Dishes are traditional Majorcan cooking with a modern twist, and food quality across both eateries is excellent. The hotel also puts on some low-key entertainment most nights, which tends to be live music. Wi-Fi is free and fast throughout.
