Grand Beach Hotel Surfside

The Grand Beach Hotel Surfside provides a stylish, luxury beachfront vacation that’s an affordable alternative to South Beach hotels. Opening its doors in November of 2013, the 12-story hotel is decorated in a contemporary style that takes inspiration from the beach setting. Sleek flooring, recessed lighting, white comfy sofas, silver and raw wood decor, potted palms, and abstract paintings are in the bright lobby. There’s a lounge with uniquely woven chairs and illuminated bookshelves. Neutral patterned carpeting and chic furnishings are in the hallways, with three elevators. Overall the atmosphere is polished and relaxed, a lovely setting for a restorative beach getaway.

The hotel is on the beach of Surfside, north of South Beach, with a jogging and biking path. The Bal Harbour Shops are within walking distance. The hotel is on Collins Avenue, a quiet street. Banks, restaurants, and shops are on the parallel street, Harding Avenue. It’s two blocks to the Surfside Community Center that has a water slide, kids' pool, and pool. It’s a 21-minute drive to the Miami Beach Convention Center and 30-minute drive to South Beach. Driving to Aventura Mall takes 20 minutes. The Miami International Airport is a 30-minute drive. The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport takes 45 minutes by car.

White, sleek furnishings, silver accents, and light wood decor fill suites that are spread across two buildings. The Oceanfront Hotel building offers King, Double, Two-Bedroom, Jacuzzi, and Family Suites with sea views. The Surfside West building offers City View King, Double, Standard Two-Bedroom, and Standard Three-Bedroom Suites. All suites have flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, furnished balconies, iPod docks, minibars, bathrobes, irons, safes, sofa beds in sitting areas, and modern bathrooms with walk-in showers or shower/tub combos and hairdryers. Double Suites have wet bars. Two-bedroom Suites offer three or four flat-screen TVs, three or four bathrooms, and in some, two balconies. Jacuzzi Suites feature wraparound balconies with hot tubs. Family Suites have two sofa beds, four bathrooms, and four flat-screen TVs. Standard Two-Bedroom Suites have two to four bathrooms. And Standard Three-Bedroom Suites have six bathrooms.

The Grand Beach Hotel Surfside has two beach-level pools with a palm-shaded deck that offers lounge chairs, umbrellas, three wheelchairs lifts, and two hot tubs, overlooking the beach. A sandy, palm-shaded area offers lounge chairs, a hammock, a towel stand, and an oversized chessboard. More lounge chairs and umbrellas are available on the sand. On the hotel’s top floor there is an adult-only pool, two hot tubs, two wheelchair lifts, and panoramic beach views. Canopy beds, lounge chairs, and white umbrellas are on the deck. A wellness spa has four treatment rooms. There’s also a bright, modern gym with cardio equipment, free weights, and windows that offer sea views.

The hotel’s French restaurant has white furnishings, tufted booth seating, a buffet, a gelato cafe, and large windows, facing the pool. There’s a stylish, bright bar in the lobby with two flat-screen TVs, comfy chairs, and poolside service. The rooftop Sky Bar is also poolside, with stylish blue sofas and sea views. The Monet ballroom is available for meetings of up to 170 people. There are three meeting rooms, fitting 20 people, and two Apple computers in the business corner. The next door Surfside Community Center offers a kids' pool, a water slide, and a pool. Tennis courts are at the Surfside Tennis Center.
