Hawaii Hotel

One might think the Hawaii Hotel is closed from the desolate look of its exterior. Inside, the small lobby surprises with red and white walls and a black front desk with a marbled top, but guests have to check in next door at the Ocean Surf Blue Hotel. A pretty wooden and marble staircase with wrought-iron railing leads to rooms on the second floor. The hotel is in a row of other hotels conveniently located across the street from a great stretch of beach, and there’s a public parking lot out front framed by tall palm trees.

Hawaii Hotel is across the street from a great stretch of Miami Beach. There are several restaurants within walking distance offering Latin, Cuban, Brazilian, and Peruvian food. The bar scene in South Beach can be reached in a 20-minute car ride or a 40-minute bus ride. The shops in Bal Harbour are within a 15-minute drive or bus ride with a transfer. The airport is less than a 25-minute drive away.  

The simple rooms at the Hawaii Hotel have tile floors and tall beds. Colorful framed pictures and Tuscan-yellow accent walls add color to the space. All rooms have tube-style TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms with rusty shower fixtures and cheap, glass shelves are in need of a renovation. Some guests have complained about mold surrounding the air conditioners and the rooms being a little too warm. 

There are free Wi-Fi and a continental-style breakfast that includes cereal, oranges, and muffins. The hotel is in a convenient location, across the street from a great stretch of beach and within a short walk to a bus stop.
