Hotel Palladio

The Hotel Palladio is a homey hotel in a well-maintained 20th-century stone and brick building. The building's entryway is especially charming, with walls that are part marble and partly painted a golden yellow, plus outdoor patio furniture and potted trees on lovely mosaic tiled floors. The lobby is the only common area and features gold and blue comfy couches and chairs placed near a flat-screen TV. As of 2016, the hotel is building a breakfast room and are refurbishing the rooms. Though reception may not be available 24 hours a day, the hotel can accommodate guests with early or late arrival and departures. Needless to say, the hotel is popular with more self-sufficient travelers who prize budget and a friendly atmosphere over amenities.

Hotel Palladio is located in the Porta Romana area, far from the bustle of the center of Milan, but near public transportation. It’s an eight-minute walk to the Porta Romana metro station and a 16-minute walk to Milano Porta Romana Train Station. There’s also a tram and bus stop a two-minute walk from the hotel. The city center, with attractions such as the Piazza del Duomo and the Milan Cathedral, is a 16-minute metro ride away. Nearby, there’s a variety of dining options and bars. The University of Bocconi is a nine-minute walk away, and the Carcano Theater takes 13 minutes on foot to reach. Linate Airport is an 18-minute drive away. 

Guest rooms at Hotel Palladio are spotless and modern, though simple. Decor -- for the most part -- features blond wood or cherry wood furniture, parquet flooring, blue patterned bedding, and prints of local attractions on the walls. Some design elements are slightly dated in certain rooms, such as bedding, lamps, and Victorian-style chairs. For Milan, the rooms are quite spacious and neat, with one or two beds, flat-screen TVs (with no English channels), desks (some smaller than others), free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. Some rooms have minibars, kettles, and balconies as well. Bathrooms are mostly en-suite, though there are two rooms with external private bathrooms (as a result, these units are cheaper). The blue-and-white mosaic or aqua green-tiled bathrooms are spacious and include shower stalls, bidets, hairdryers, and toiletries. 

Hotel Palladio doesn't have much in the way of amenities, and it lacks breakfast and on-site dining. Reception is able to provide photocopies if need be. There’s also free Wi-Fi, though some have complained that it’s slow. The hotel has a luggage storage room and vending machines for a light snack. Travelers with a car can use the hotel’s underground garage for a fee.
