Bottom Line

For travelers who don't mind skimping on extra frills or amenities, the three-pearl Ibis Milano Centro is a fine choice at a value rate. The chain hotel's lobby and 439 rooms are well maintained and have fun, contemporary decor and memory-foam mattresses. The on-site restaurant and bar don't have a lot of personality, but food and drinks are decent and the prices are reasonable. Businesspeople and meeting organizers may want to make use of the eight event rooms, the largest of which can hold 60 people. Visitors interested in a stylish, reasonably priced stay should also consider the Enterprise Hotel, which isn't as close to the business district but has upscale rooms plus a gym and spa for a slightly higher room rate.

ibis Milano Centro

Scene

Fresh and fun mid-range hotel

The Ibis Milano Centro's amenities are on par with a lot of other mid-range chain hotels, but the decor is more stylish and fresh. On a street with several buildings that are more than 100 years old, the Ibis Milano Centro looks like a modern, minimalist apartment building. Inside, mural-sized photos and artwork adorn the walls of the lobby/lounge area, where chairs and sofas have a mid-century modern look. The style extends to the restaurant and bar area, which features curvy plywood chairs and floor-to-ceiling black-and-white drawings. With blond-wood tables, many of the event spaces look more like nice seminar rooms, but that may be enough for low-key meetings. The hotel attracts tourists and business travelers alike who don't want to splurge for one of the area's fancier, more expensive hotels.

Rooms

Low-key, modestly furnished rooms with compact bathrooms

The 439 rooms at Ibis Milano Centro are simple, clean, and subtly stylish, with IKEA-style furniture. The comfortable memory-foam beds have tall blond-wood headboard with matching nightstands, and combination closet/shelving units nicely complement the desks, which are also blond wood. Black chalkboard-style artwork hangs above the beds, which face small flat-screen TVs. The black, painted wood floor might not exactly make the spaces feel cozy, but they do add a bit of style. Bathrooms are compact, and cleanly styled with a glass walk-in showers and emerald-green sinks. Hairdryers and wall-mounted soap dispensers come standard. All rooms include free Wi-Fi.
