Some guests complain about noise
The UNA Maison Milano is a small, upscale hotel with sophisticated, modern rooms and a location right in the heart of Milan's city center. But there are few facilities or business services. For a fee, breakfast is brought to guest rooms in the morning, as there is no on-site restaurant. A portable Technogym can be set up in any guest room, although space can be tight. Free candy and a small bar enhance the lobby. It may be worth comparing rates at the nearby Spadari al Duomo, for a breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi.
Scene
An intimate and elegant hotel in Milan's city center
With elegant decor in shades of white, the UNA Maison Milano is all about clean lines and simplicity. The lobby is small, but white club chairs with curved backs don't take up much space and oversize mirrors add light. Fun touches such as glass candy jars filled with sweets and a wooden cupboard topped with shelves of liquor that works as a makeshift bar make the space inviting, as do a built-in bookshelf and flat-screen TV.
Location
On a pedestrian-friendly street in the center of Milan
Location is the main draw at UNA Maison Milano, as it's just steps from the famous Duomo Cathedral that serves as the main focal point of the city, and is surrounded by high-end boutiques and fabulous restaurants. Expect a 50-minute drive to Milan's airport with traffic.
Rooms
Starkly white with high ceilings, flat-screen TVs, and pocket doors leading into the bathrooms
The sophisticated rooms here are elegant and comfortable. Plush beige carpeting and matching draperies give a small dose of color to the otherwise bright white walls and furniture. Good-size bathrooms with full bathtubs are reached through pocket doors. There's enough space in the stocked minibar to stash personal items, and the electric tea kettle can come in handy. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, and some have small terraces with views of Milan.
Features
Room service breakfast and gym delivery, but little else -- the main draw is the location
The rooms at the UNA Maison Milano are the real standout at the hotel, though there are some clever workarounds to the lack of a restaurant and a fitness center. For an additional charge, breakfast is served in the guest rooms, and a mobile Technogyms are available on request, so guests can work out in their rooms. The lobby has a small bar.
