Hotel Xaloc Playa

Hotel Xaloc Playa is an average low-key hotel in Minorca. While most elements are a bit dated, the hotel still has an overall friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Decor is minimal throughout the hotel, with the common areas looking a bit worn. The lobby is quite large, with a fair amount of seating on a collection of red and brown sofas. Kids are accommodated with a shallow pool adjacent to the large outdoor swimming pool. There's also mini-golf, table tennis, and billiards for entertainment around the pool. The hotel is mostly frequented by couples and families looking for a relaxing and comfortable hotel for a simple low-key seaside vacation.

Situated in the small holiday resort of Punta Prima, Hotel Xaloc Playa is a one-minute walk to the beautiful white sands of Punta Prima Beach. The hotel is within close walking distance to two supermarkets, beach bars, restaurants, and other shops -- mostly situated along the promenade in front of the hotel. The islands capital, Mahon, is a 20-minute drive from the hotel. There's a bus stop that's a few minutes' walk from the hotel. The bus travels to Mahon and other small villages on the island. The road train is also within walking distance from the hotel. The road train travels between Punta Prima and the neighboring resort of Binibeca -- the trip takes about 30 minutes, otherwise it's 10 minutes by car. Minorca Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel.

Compared to the rest of the hotel, the guest rooms at Hotel Xaloc Playa are quite modern, though a bit generic and dull. Rooms are all Standard, with only the option of twin or double bed configurations, as well as the option of handicap accessible rooms. The decor includes white walls and gray curtains and linens, with a splash of color in the form of green throw pillows. While slightly bland, the rooms are bright and spacious, and all include a large, furnished balcony with pool or sea views.  Amenities include flat-screen TV, safe, telephone, and work desk. Air-conditioning and Wi-Fi are available for an additional fee, and there are no in-room tea- and coffee-making facilities. En-suite bathrooms provide a walk-in shower, hairdryer, and toiletries.

Hotel Xaloc Playa offers some nice features. All room rates include a free buffet breakfast, and some rates also include the buffet-style dinner. The continental breakfast buffet includes yogurt, cereal, bread, fruits, and a selection of eggs. The on-site restaurant and bar is open all day, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with drinks and snacks. The outdoor swimming pool includes an adjacent shallow kids' pool. The pool area is shaded by trees and parasols, with plenty of sun loungers for everyone. Outdoor activities include table tennis, mini-golf, and billiards; along with bicycles available to rent. There is no fitness center or spa facilities. An evening entertainment program is provided two nights a week. Wi-Fi is available for an additional fee, and guests have complained about poor coverage.
