Bottom Line

The mid-range Best Western Plus Greenwell Inn is centrally located on South Main Street in downtown Moab, making it a convenient base from which to explore the spectacular national parks nearby. The hotel has been nicely updated with a modern lobby, and attractive amenities include a free hot breakfast, heated outdoor pool/whirlpool, and 24-hour fitness center. Its 75 guest rooms are spacious but a bit dark, with laminate wood floors, flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, but microwaves aren't standard. Like other Moab hotels, rates can spike in peak season when rooms can be difficult to find. A good option with comparable amenities and rates is the Comfort Suites, which also is downtown.

Best Western Plus Greenwell Inn

Scene

A handsome downtown hotel with a rustic and relaxed vibe

This motel-style property stays busy hosting travelers from all over the world -- including tour groups -- who come to experience the spectacular national parks that are only a short drive away. The fountain in front of the hotel makes a pleasant first impression, with large boulders similar to those surrounding the small town. High arched ceilings with wooden beams give the lobby a rustic feel, and wrought iron chandeliers hanging over a cozy seating area in front of a fireplace further enhances the relaxed ambiance. The breakfast area gets quite busy at peak times, but it has plenty of seating to handle the crowds, including a lovely covered patio overlooking bustling Main Street.

Location

On South Main in downtown Moab, a nine-minute drive to Arches National Park

The Best Western Plus is centrally located on South Main Street in downtown Moab, surrounded by restaurants, shops, outdoor adventure outfitters, and other hotels that line the main drag for blocks. Several restaurants are within a three-minute walk, including full-service and fast food options. The road is busy during the day, but settles down to be relatively quiet at night. It’s a nine-minute drive to Arches National Park Visitors Center and a 35-minute drive to Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. Driving to Zion National Park takes about five hours, while Salt Lake City and its airport take a little less than four hours by car.

Rooms

Spacious and comfortable, with Keurig coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi

Gold walls, laminate wood floors, and furniture with an amber finish give the hotel's comfortable guest rooms a warm glow. They're accented with burnt-orange drapes and bedspreads, and framed photography of the area’s spectacular red rock formations. Despite the vibrant colors, the small windows and soft lighting make the rooms a bit dark, but not to the point of being gloomy. Space is a big plus -- both Standard Kings and Double Queens include upholstered armchairs, desks with office chairs, and small dining tables with two upholstered chairs. Standard amenities include Keurig coffeemakers, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi, and Deluxe Rooms add microwaves. Black granite vanities are placed just outside the rather small bathrooms, which have shower/tub combos framed by handsome tan tiling. Most past guests have reported their rooms to be generally clean and well-maintained. Ambient noise from the busy downtown street can sometimes be an issue, as can noise in rooms on the ground floor from upstairs neighbors. Views of the street and parking lot are unremarkable.
