Bottom Line

The 24-room Inca Inn is a no-nonsense budget hotel set against beautiful red rock mountains in downtown Moab. The inn is run by a husband and wife team and stays true to its "budget done right" slogan, providing a heated outdoor pool, a breakfast room/lobby, and bicycle storage. Rooms are clean and simple, with microwaves, mini-fridges, tube TVs, and LED showerheads, but they could do with a few more electrical outlets and some could use a bedding upgrade.

Inca Inn

Scene

Small Southwestern-style motel with a red-rock backdrop, popular with budget travelers

The Inca Inn is a no-frills motel in central downtown Moab with beautiful red rock cliffs in the backdrop. A wraparound walkway with colorful patio chairs runs in front of rooms. The small, semicircular lobby also serves as the breakfast room, with big 180-degree windows that let in a lot of natural light. The room has casual patio chairs and tables for guests, wooden-beamed ceilings, and Southwestern wall decor. Starbucks coffee is provided 24 hours a day on a small counter next to a toaster and breakfast is free. More seating is available outside on a little gravel patio area with chairs, tables, and a few plants. A small parking lot is at the center of the inn, and there are colorful patio chairs outside room doors. A bicycle weathervane on the rooftop and lizard decor on exterior walls create a Southwestern vibe.

The owners -- Grant Peck and his wife Dee Dee -- purchased the motel in 2011. Grant used his background in restaurant management to create a clean, comfortable motel atmosphere that lives up to the motto: "budget done better." The owners are refreshingly upfront about the Inca Inn’s downfalls, listing them on the website. The hotel attracts budget-conscious travelers who plan to spend most of their time exploring Moab’s attractions and the hikes at Arches National Park.
