Bottom Line

The 116-room, upper-middle-range Hotel Mioni Royal San, near Terme Euganee Railway Station, offers simple yet colorful contemporary rooms and suites. Rooms come with air-conditioning and notably fast Wi-Fi, and all bathrooms have rainfall showerheads. But Mioni Royal's extensive spa menu and two big thermal pools are its biggest draws. There are also a fitness center, meeting rooms, and a free buffet breakfast.

Hotel Mioni Royal San

Scene

Futuristic-retro styling in a hotel popular with leisure and business travelers

From the outside, the Hotel Mioni Royal San has a 1960s futuristic look, like something out of "The Jetsons." This decor concept is hinted at again in the the lobby, which has silver disk-shaped light fixtures that look a bit like UFOs. A bright-red mosaic penguin the size of an adult human greets guests, and there's a seating area with red, cream, and black chairs organized around cube-shaped tables with large floral displays. The Mioni caters to business travelers and tourists alike, and its kids' pool and children's play area means that it is a good choice for families with kids.

Location

A short walk from the Terme Euganee Railway Station in a neighborhood with lots of commerce

The hotel is a two-minute walk from the Terme Euganee Railway Station in a  neighborhood surrounded by shops and restaurants. Although Abano Terme is a destination unto itself, thanks largely to its thermal waters, it also makes a good base for reaching nearby towns and cities such as Verona, Bologna, and Treviso -- all of which are about an hour away -- and Venice, a half-hour train ride from town. Marco Polo International Airport near Venice is a 50-minute drive from the hotel.

All rooms have air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs, digital safes, minibars, and hairdryers. Bathrooms have bidets and spacious walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads; Junior Suites and Suites also have separate tubs, and Suites have whirlpool hot tubs.

Features

Indoor and outdoor thermal pools, extensive spa and meeting facilities

Like many hotels in the area, the Minoi's main draw are its thermal waters and spa treatments. The indoor thermal pool is surrounded by plush lounge chairs and stays open late. The outdoor pool has section for children, a hydro-massage area, and waterfalls. Poolside food and drink service is available. The spa features a whirlpool, a sauna, a heated relaxation bench, thermal and aromatherapy rooms, and a fitness center with a personal trainer on staff. Treatments range from salt scrubs to ayurvedic oil massage and hair removal, and mani-pedis are also available. Meeting and conference facilities include a large conference room with audio-visual equipment, and a smaller meeting room. A buffet breakfast of fruits, breads, and yogurt is served daily, but some guests have complained about the quality. Bike rentals are also available, and there's a small children's area with toddler-appropriate toys and activities.
