My Suites is in the upmarket Pocitos neighborhood, a popular locale among tourists for its proximity to the waterfront Rambla -- about 10 minutes away on foot -- as well as the neighborhood's abundance of restaurants and boutiques. Popular local dining includes La Otra, Amadeo, and Hoy Te Quiero, all between five and 10 minutes away from the hotel on foot. It’s a four-minute walk to Castillo Pittamiglio Theatre, and 10 minutes to Pocitos Beach as well as the trendy Punta Carretas neighborhood. The hotel is also close to the Club de Golf del Uruguay, less than 10 minutes away by taxi, and a 15-minute cab ride to scenic Ciudad Vieja, the city's historic district. Ferries to Buenos Aires depart from the seaport and can be reached in 15 minutes by car, while the Tres Cruces bus terminal is just over 10 minutes away by taxi. Carrasco International Airport is a 30-minute drive from the hotel.

The 40 rooms at My Suites are spacious, classy, and contemporary, with deep chestnut accents, wood floors, and original artwork by Uruguayan artists on the walls. Attention to detail sets these rooms apart from other Montevideo hotels in this category -- rooms have plenty of charging docks with varied shapes to avoid adapters (there’s even a charging dock inside the room safe!), and furniture has a sharp, mod quality. Each room offers a specific bottle of wine from a local Uruguayan winery and some information about its profile, as well as an invitation to take a winery tour. Hues throughout the rooms are sober, and alternate between stark white walls and darker shades of brown, green, and burgundy. All rooms include minibars, microwaves, and utensils, as well as flat-screen TVs, near-silent air-conditioners, and electric black-out shades. There’s also an accessible room for those with mobility issues. The bathrooms are large, with lots of counter space, bright lighting, and shower-tub combos.  

The best, and most unique, feature of this hotel is its focus on local products -- local olive oil tastings are on offer and there's an on-site sommelier along with an excellent (and abundant) selection of local wines. The hotel has a shop selling a large array of tannat wine and offers wine-themed tours of the city. The hotel’s on-site restaurant has a pricey and limited menu, though dishes are tasty. The highlight is the wine bar, where a knowledgeable sommelier leads free wine tastings throughout the week. A modest-but-varied breakfast buffet is included with room rates -- it features eggs, pastries, meats, and cheeses, as well as healthy touches like chia seeds and dried fruit. The hotel has a small rooftop pool, though it's shallow and resembles a heated tub. It’s on the same floor as the fitness center, which sports a handful of up-to-date cardio machines alongside the piping hot sauna room. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there is a computer station as well.
