Auberge Le Jardin d'Antoine occupies a narrow three-story townhouse with a light yellow facade and green accents, set smack-dab in the center of lively Rue St. Denis. With an intimate, homey feel and few common areas, the air is more like a bed-and-breakfast than hotel. Decor throughout is traditional though somewhat dated -- green carpeting and mauve walls line the hallways, and the entrance features gray floral wallpaper with dark mahogany accents. Despite the lack of frills, it's clean, comfortable, and even cozy, making it ideal for budget-minded travelers. Couples in particular can take advantage of upgraded room extras, like whirlpool tubs. 

Auberge Le Jardin d'Antoine is centrally located in the heart of the Latin Quarter on the vibrant Rue St. Denis, which is lined with bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops, many on the same block as the hotel. Though bustling and popular for its nightlife, the area isn't known for historic attractions or sights. Still, Old Montreal, the Old Port of Montreal, and Bonsecours Market are all reachable on foot in about 20 minutes. Several metro stops are within an easy walk, including the Sherbrooke metro station (line 2), a five-minute walk, and Berri-UQAM (lines 1, 2, and 4), a seven-minute walk.

Guest rooms are individually decorated in homey, slightly country-style decor. Cream-colored walls, wood floors, patchwork quilts or floral comforters, two-poster beds, and light-wood furniture are common. Room decor can feel vaguely outdated, but it's all tasteful. All guest rooms include AC, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Some have mini-fridges, but they aren't standard. Bathrooms have hairdryers and soap dispensers.

Accommodations come in four categories: Budget, Standard, Deluxe, and Suites, distinguished from each other mainly by size and bathroom amenities. Budget Rooms are just under 170 square feet and feature small showers, Standard Rooms have shower/tub combos, and Deluxe Rooms and Suites are outfitted with whirlpool tubs and separate walk-in showers; suites can measure more than 500 square feet and feature separate living areas.Some past guests have complained about street noise.

Breakfast here is included in the rate and served buffet-style in a simple dining room. It's standard continental fare -- bread, fruit, ham, cheese, yogurt, coffee, juice. Guest can eat in the breakfast room, on the little outdoor terrace area, or bring trays up to their rooms. There's no full-service restaurant or bar, but the hotel does sell some wine and beer at the reception desk. 

Reception is open 24 hours and staff can assist with some concierge services, like calling taxis or booking tours. There's no business center, but there's a computer for guest use and staff can arrange printing, copying, and fax services for an extra fee. There's a fridge and microwave for guest use, plus a safe, high chairs, an iron, and an ironing board. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Though not on-site, parking is available nearby for a reasonable extra fee. Note that the hotel does not have an elevator, and travelers with limited mobility may prefer to book rooms on the ground floor.
