Though the exterior of this mid-range hotel looks motel-like with its with pale-colored siding and balconies, interiors are a stylish, contemporary surprise. Common spaces are limited, but guests are greeted in an inviting lobby awash in gray shades brightened by a tangerine-hued sofa and a large painting of moody Morro Beach. It's a chic scene, complete with orchids on the front desk, fresh flowers on coffee tables, and stylish furnishings like a tufted armchair and trendy area rug. A free beverage station with coffee, tea, and water is a nice touch, while The Bird Feeder, the hotel's small breakfast room, is a cozy space with a fireplace and beautiful views over the water and Morro Rock in the distance. Overall, it's a great choice in the area that feels fresh, clean, and stylish, and impressive vistas over the harbor are a major draw. Tourists make up the clientele here, which includes both couples and families with kids.

The hotel takes its name from its address as it's located on Embarcadero, a waterfront road that hugs the coast of Morro Bay. Scenic views over the water unfold from many rooms, some with vistas of the enchanting Morro Rock looming out of the water in the distance. The Morro Bay Marina is just a four-minute walk up the street, as are many seafood dining options that line the coast. Morro Strand State Beach is about a seven-minute drive away. Morro Rock Beach can be reached in six minutes by car or 23 minutes on foot. San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is around a 25-minute drive from here. LAX is three-and-a-half hours away.

Decor varies a bit among rooms, but all have a stylish and contemporary look. Large wooden headboards frame beds, while pops of bright shades like blue chairs or teal bedskirts add color to mostly neutral hues. Most rooms have attractive wooden floors accented by trendy area rugs, and many add fireplaces for a cozy feel. Suites have separate living rooms that are tastefully appointed with chic furniture, and all of the rooms are spacious and offer comfy armchairs or other seating. Most rooms have private balconies furnished with chairs and small tables, many feature stunning views of the bay and Morro Rock.

Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, irons/ironing boards, and free Wi-Fi; suites have wet bars. The Family Suite, though dated decor-wise, has a spacious living room with a sleeper sofa, a dining area, and a kitchen with a stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffeemaker, and dish- and cooking-ware (and even a rack of spices). Bathrooms are fairly standard and could use an update. They come equipped with toilets and shower/tub combos that have older fixtures and sinks are situated in a separate space outside the bathrooms. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Note that noise can be an issue from thin walls and traffic on the road right outside. 

Features are a bit limited at this modest inn, but a couple of extras add value. A continental breakfast (with goodies like cinnamon rolls and waffles) is included in rates and is served in a cozy breakfast room. There's also free coffee and tea in the lobby throughout the day. Another perk is an indoor stainless steel hot tub. On-site parking is available for free, as is Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
