Hotel Muenchen Palace

Scene

Elegant, luxurious boutique hotel

A sleek white marble reception desk dominates the lobby, which also features elegant chairs and tables, ornate lamps, chandeliers, and imposing paintings in gold frames. The refined feel continues throughout the property, especially in the hallways, which have stylish navy blue carpets, more framed artwork on the walls, and white orchids on elegant side tables. The Palace Restaurant is light and bright, with windows lining one side of the room. The decor is simple and chic with natural linen chair covers and crisp white tablecloths. Every table is adorned with a small bouquet of colorful fresh flowers in a silver vase. The lounge bar has a trendier feel, with wood-paneled walls, and there's a mix of traditional-style wooden chairs and black leather sofas with contrasting hot pink pillows.

Location

In a quiet area outside the city center

The Muenchen Palace is in a quiet area, a 30-minute walk to the city center and easily accessible by cars and public transportation. A number of art galleries and museums and the famous English Gardens are within walking distance. Opposite the hotel is the fantastic Kafer Deli, which has a huge array of wonderful fresh food.

Metro, bus, and tram stops are within a five-minute walk from the property and link to the city center in about 10 minutes. As the center of Munich can get congested, these options are generally quicker -– and certainly cheaper -– than taking cabs. The hotel also offers bicycles for free guest use. The airport is a half-hour drive away.

Guests are also welcome to use the free Wi-Fi and computer station, and for business travelers there’s a 24-hour business center with two meeting rooms and a large conference center. The on-site Palace Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the freshly-made international dishes are delicious and beautifully presented. The buffet breakfast doesn’t come cheap, but it is outstanding, with homemade yogurts, fresh cheeses, breads, and pretzels, beautifully cut fruits, smoked salmon, and honey served from a honeycomb. Hot dishes such as pancakes and eggs are available on request. The lounge bar is small but is a trendy setting for a few evening drinks.
