Petinos Beach Hotel

Inside the Petinos Beach Hotel's cluster of whitewashed buildings bedecked with traditional blue shutters, the light-filled lobby is made even brighter by the off-white color palette and white marble floors. Linen slipcovered sofas and armchairs look chic and inviting against rustic stone walls accented by painted tile inserts. Outside, terraced patios built into the hilly terrain hold sun loungers and stone banquettes. A series of steps lead down to an open-air restaurant adjacent to a narrow pool, where sunbathers are typically sprawled on white loungers. As guests of the hotel's sister property have access to the pool, this area can get a bit crowded. A few steps away is the crescent shaped beach, where row upon row of sunbeds and umbrellas seem to fill every square inch of sand. The small boutique hotel's charming design and enviable setting make it popular for romantic getaways, though families and groups of friends are still present. 

The hotel is located within a popular resort zone directly on Platys Gialos beach, a stretch of sand filled with hotels, restaurants, and shops. Paradise, Paraga, and Agia Anna beaches are within a 30-minute walk, and taxi boats to beaches on the south coast are available next to the hotel. The airport, as well as the lively nightlife scene in Mykonos Town, are within a 10-minute ride by local bus or hotel shuttle. 

The hotel has 24 rooms that either feature newer decor that's chic and predominately white chic, or less modern dark wood furniture and accents. The renovated rooms have crisp white bedding, headboards, floors, and painted wood-beam ceilings, with pops of color in the paintings above the bed and brownish-gold drapes. In contrast, the older rooms have classical dark wood furniture and bedside lamps, with welcome touches of blue in the bedding and couch fabrics. All have stone balconies with either sea or garden views, but first-floor rooms offer the best water views. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, minibars, and flat-screen TVs, plus tea/coffee facilities, slippers, and safes. Bathrooms vary in size -- from large, open-format spaces with double vessel sinks to rather cramped rooms with toilets close to the sink. They come with a full range of toiletries and either have jetted or standard tubs, or stall showers. 

If guests are spending their time down at the beach (where they'll have to rent beach chairs and umbrellas) then most leisure time is spent at the hotel's small but lovely pool. Overlooking the water, the pool is surrounded by cushioned loungers and umbrellas. Other facilities include a sauna and small fitness room equipped with a handful of cardio machines and weights. Guests can also visit the spa, beauty salon, hammam, and indoor hot tub at Nissaki Boutique Hotel, the Petinos Beach's sister property across the street. The hotel serves a large, free breakfast buffet of hot and cold items in an open-air restaurant with spectacular sea views. A second a la carte restaurant with charming cottage-style decor has similar awesome views.
