Bottom Line

The family-friendly, 90-room Atlantic Breeze Ocean Resort has mid-range condo-style rooms featuring full kitchens, which are conveniently stocked with plenty of plates, glasses, and utensils, as well as dish soap and dishwasher detergent. Its beachfront location and large pools (half in the shade, half in the sun) are the main draw, and its location in North Myrtle Beach makes it a bit less crowded (if a bit farther from some tourist attractions) than Downtown Myrtle Beach hotels.

Oyster Hotel Review

Atlantic Breeze Ocean Resort

Location

In the somewhat less crowded North Myrtle Beach, with fewer touristy attractions than Downtown, but still plenty for visitors to do

Although there's no such thing as a peaceful slice of the Myrtle Beach pie, North Myrtle Beach at least isn't as chaotic as Downtown Myrtle Beach. Streets aren't particularly pedestrian-friendly, though, so a rental car would be convenient. Multiple bars and restaurants can be found on North Kings Highway.

Resting a good 15 miles north of Downtown, North Myrtle Beach has less nightlife (though there are some fun bars at Barefoot Landing), and a bit of a slower pace. Plenty of family-friendly attractions are located here, including an aquarium and the O.D. Pavilion & Amusement Park. The area is known for being less high-end than Downtown, and offers visitors more budget-friendly hotels.

  • 30-minute drive to Myrtle Beach International Airport
  • 4-minute drive to various restaurants and bars on North Kings Highway
  • 5-minute drive to Ocean Drive Amusement Park
  • 7-minute drive to Barefoot Landing
  • 10-minute drive to various golf courses, like Beachwood Golf Club and Azalea Sands Golf Course
  • 25-minute drive to Downtown Myrtle Beach
