La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Myrtle Beach – N Kings Hwy

A friendly and upbeat atmosphere permeates La Quinta Inn & Suites Myrtle Beach at 48th Avenue, starting in the lobby, where there's free coffee, tea, and newspapers. The tile-floored space is decorated with potted plants and there's a flat-screen TV. The breakfast area sits in a sunken area below the lobby and has red patterned carpeting, wooden tables, and large windows that let in natural light. Another flat-screen TV hangs on the wall and the serving area has black countertops and a gray tile backsplash. All common areas have low ceilings, which makes the spaces feel smaller than they are. The property has facilities for business travelers, but like most properties in the area, it's more squarely targeted at the Myrtle Beach vacationer market.  

The La Quinta Inn & Suites Myrtle Beach at 48th Avenue is on a busy street, within walking distance of plenty of restaurants along with local attractions, including the beach, Pine Lakes Golf Course, and mini-golf at Treasure Island. Ripley’s Aquarium, Myrtlewood Golf Club, and the Myrtle Beach Convention Center are all under a five-minute drive from the hotel, while the Tanger Outlets, Broadway at the Beach, and Myrtle Beach International Airport take closer to 10 minutes. Barefoot Landing and House of Blues Myrtle Beach are 15-minutes from the hotel by car.

Rooms are basic and have air-conditioning and chain decor. Blue-and-cream patterned carpet coordinates with tan bed runners and drapes and blue lamps add color to the spaces. Flat-screen TVs sit on light-wood dressers and there are blue couches and armchairs in most units. The hotel's signature Simmons Bright Morning pillowtop beds receive mediocre reviews. Unlike Standard Rooms, which just come with coffeemakers, Executive Rooms have microwaves, wet bars, and mini-fridges. Bathrooms are plain save for the cheery orange-and-white-striped shower curtains and all come with hairdryers. Some units have double sinks. While rooms overall get positive reviews, some guests have complained of loud pet and hallway noise.

La Quinta serves a free hot breakfast featuring waffles, cereal, pastries, fruit, and coffee. A nice outdoor pool is open seasonally with tables, white lounge chairs, and green umbrellas, but it is small. There's also a small fitness center with cardio and weight machines and a spacious business room with a computer, a printer, and tan and green couches. The Bright Side Market includes a variety of snacks and drinks, and there is free Wi-Fi and parking. Coin-operated laundry facilities are also available.
