Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel

Not all hotels in Myrtle Beach are focused on families on beach holidays, and that’s especially the case with the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel. As the name implies, it’s connected to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, therefore, attracting business travelers or those attending events. However, the hotel's proximity to the beach does mean that many couples and families on vacation stay here, too. Inside, the hotel is contemporary, though not as upscale as some Sheraton properties. The lobby’s blond wooden front desks are not impressive by any means, but there are attractive features like a glass atrium, wavy wall accents and art work, and palm trees that help to remind customers that they’re in a sunny beach locale. With 400 rooms, the lobby is usually busy, making time-share pitches by front desk staff a little annoying to some guests. The bar has a lovely design with purple walls and gray modern furniture, but the restaurant could use a bit of sprucing as the wooden tables and chairs with colored padding are dated.

The location highlight of this hotel is that it’s attached to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, allowing for easy access for business and event travelers. For those who need a break from meetings, it’s just an eight-minute walk to the beach and a five-minute walk to dining options. Broadway at the Beach takes 23 minutes to reach by foot, while the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade is a 29-minute walk or six-minute drive away. The closest golf course is a six-minute drive from the hotel. While this Sheraton doesn’t have an airport shuttle, it only takes 13 minutes by car to get to Myrtle Beach International Airport. 

There’s nothing extremely stylish about the rooms at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel. They’re average in their contemporary style that features decor in creams, beiges, and browns. The brown-toned carpet and the headboards may differ slightly among rooms, but they all complement the cherry wooden furniture. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers with Starbucks coffee, free Wi-Fi, and free bottled water. Bathrooms are plain with granite sinks and shower/tub combos. Le Grand Bain toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Only Hospitality Suites have balconies, but floor-to-ceiling windows in all rooms offer plenty of natural light and sometimes ocean views. Guests should note that there have been some complaints about thin walls and cleanliness issues in rooms. 

Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel’s prime feature is pretty clear in its name: the convention center to which the hotel is attached. Guests have access to 25 fully-equipped meeting and event spaces, as well as a large business center with desktops and printers. There’s even a Club Lounge which offers a quiet area to work with free Wi-Fi, hot and cold breakfast, snacks, and drinks. Access is available for upper-level rooms.Though this hotel isn’t among the kid-focused properties in Myrtle Beach, it does have an indoor pool with a large solarium deck filled with loungers. It may lack a spa, but the fitness center has a decent amount of LifeFitness cardio machines, yoga mats, and free weights. For dining options, guests can start the morning with coffee from the coffee shop or with a paid hot breakfast at the Southern restaurant which also serves lunch and dinner. There’s a bar that offers small bites and cocktails throughout the day. Other amenities include a small gift shop, free Wi-Fi, and paid self- and valet parking.
