Bottom Line

The Embassy Suites in Napa does not look like your typical chain hotel upon arrival. It strives to emulate the Napa Valley vibe with manicured, sprawling grounds, a palm tree-lined, villa-like facade, and warm decor in the 2012-renovated suites. The juxtaposition of patterned rugs and patterned walls in these suites may have missed the mark (they feel a bit busy to some), but the decor is fresh and all suites feature separate living rooms, wet bars, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Families will enjoy the two nice pools -- the indoor pool is large and the outdoor pool is in a quiet courtyard, surrounded by the hotel (similar chain hotels often feature roadside pools), but the fitness center is a drive away.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley

Location

Outside of downtown Napa, just off of Highway 29

The Embassy Suites Napa Valley is within walking distance (10 minutes) of downtown Napa and its proximity to Highway 29 makes it a great home base for winery hopping.

Napa is one of the world's best wine-growing regions, with hundreds of wineries sprawling over rolling hills. Napa valley, unlike its neighbor Sonoma Valley, can occasionally feel a little touristy (it's not uncommon to see a tour bus parked at a winery), and it also feels geared toward visitors with cash to spend -- so those with lighter wallets might feel a little out of place. The beauty of the valley is striking at any time of the year, but especially during the harvest season (September and October) and spring. It can get very busy during the summer months, so expect crowds.

  • 1-hour and 2-minute drive to Oakland Airport
  • 1-hour and 12-minute drive to San Francisco International Airport
  • 1-hour and 16-minute drive to Sacramento International Airport
  • 10-minute walk to downtown Napa
  • 16-minute walk, or 4-minute drive, to The Uptown Theatre Napa
  • 3-minute drive to Napa Premium Outlets
  • 5-minute drive to Westwood Hills Park
  • 5-minute drive to Oxbow Market, a shopping center of local boutiques
  • 6-minute drive to Napa Valley Wine Train
  • 10-minute drive to the art galleries of the Di Rosa Preserve
  • 13-minute drive to the Silverado Trail, a string of wineries, small towns and spectacular views
  • 13-minute drive to Napa Valley Country Club
  • 39-minute drive to wine tasting at Chateau Montelena, winner of the legendary 1976 Judgment of Paris
  • 58-minute drive to San Francisco
