Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville – Vanderbilt – Elliston Place

The Hampton’s proximity to Vanderbilt University keeps this friendly and aesthetically pleasing hotel busy with guests in town for sporting events, reunions, parental visits, and students checking out colleges. The lovely lobby is accented by dark-brown wood trim, red-orange sofas and armchairs, white square columns and walls, and charcoal-gray tile floors. A four-sided fireplace with a brick mantle serves as the unofficial dividing line between the front desk and breakfast areas. Modern, rectangular chandeliers hang from the second floor and illuminate several separate sitting areas filled with throw pillows and ottomans. It’s a large, open area with two-story windows that bring in lots of light. The breakfast area, with a natural stone wall, wall-mounted flat-screen TV, and clusters of rectangular tables and high-back chairs, is especially busy in the morning as guests gather for the free breakfast. 

Vanderbilt University is a five-minute walk from the hotel, and the university’s medical center is about a 13-minute walk or an eight-minute drive. Two other major medical complexes -- Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital and Centennial Medical Center -- are also nearby, about a two- to three-minute drive or a 10-minute walk. Many of Nashville’s top attractions are within a 20-minute drive, including Nissan Stadium (11 minutes), Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center (20 to 25 minutes), Parthenon (four-minute drive or a 10-minute walk), and Nashville International Airport (a 15- to 20-minute drive). Several other attractions can be reached in about 10 minutes, including Tennessee State Capitol, Bridgestone Arena, Music City Center, Printer’s Alley, and Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, and Music City Walk of Fame Park. The downtown Nashville Riverfront train station is about an 11-minute drive or an 18-minute bus trip. Bus service is available between Vanderbilt and points downtown. The hotel offers a free downtown shuttle service.

Bathrooms are distinctive, with colorful, light-tan tile floors and walls framing the white shower/tub combos. Tan granite-and-light-wood vanities hold coffeemakers and toiletries. All rooms come with mini-fridges, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, leather office chairs, and free Wi-Fi. The two-room suites are larger, and have separate living/dining areas with dark hardwood floors, small dining tables and chairs, and a second TV. The full kitchen includes full-size refrigerators, two-burner stove tops, dishwashers, sinks, utensils, and microwaves. Vanities are positioned outside the bathrooms. Views are mainly of the hotel parking lot or surrounding buildings or parking garages.
