those seeking event spaces for weddings, parties, and conferences. Clean, spacious rooms, and perks like free Wi-Fi and an indoor swimming pool, will ensure that travelers find their basic needs met. The Link Cafe and Bar is open late and serves food (traditional American fare) at times when other area restaurants are likely to be closed. Located just off of Route 128/95, the Sheraton Needham is 18 miles from Boston, providing guests with easy access to beaches to the north, and the city to the south. A free shuttle is available to take guests to the Newton Highlands commuter rail stop. Some amenities, such as parking and breakfast, cost extra.
Scene
A well-kept business traveler hotel, with a flair for nice decor
The Sheraton Needham pays attention to maintaining its appearance. While the decor features patterned carpeting
and earthy color schemes common for a chain hotel, centerpieces of potted
plants and greenery add lively, vibrant touches. Accent lamps, tables, and interesting photo art bring character to public spaces. The lobby and front desk area opens out into a large bar and dining room. There is single seating, as well as tables for groups of six or more. A six-station computer lounge with printer means wait times to utilize its resources are short (if at all). The Grand Ballroom features large chandeliers and all meeting spaces are well-equipped and
visually appealing. Large windows let in natural light throughout the hotel. This contributes to a bright and airy feel
that continues into the fitness center and indoor heated pool area. Floor-to-ceiling windows help make this handicap-accessible
pool an outstanding hotel feature. The Sheraton Needham provides an upscale hotel feel in a chain hotel environment. It's attractive to business travelers who are not on strict budgets, as well as individuals who want attractive decor and urban amenities in a suburban location.
Location
Suburban location accessible by highway, public transportation and shuttle
The hotel is 19 miles from Boston Logan Airport, which means visitors will likely need a rental car. Conveniently, the hotel provides car rentals on-site. The Sheraton Needham offers a free shuttle to take guests to
the Newton-Highlands MBTA (Boston's public transportation system) rail stop,
three miles away.Travelers must take the commuter rail the rest of the way
into the city or get a cab. A taxi from Needham into Boston can be costly. The popular Mall at Chestnut Hill is just over three miles from the Sheraton Needham, and there are two golf courses
less than five miles away. This hotel is convenient for those who wish to play golf and/or shop, or are working close to the hotel itself. Others, especially people visiting Boston proper, might find its location challenging.
Rooms
Large rooms, tasteful decor, and plenty of work space
The Sheraton Needham offers four types of rooms of various sizes. All are reasonably spacious and suites are over 600 square feet. Basic and mid-level rooms feature desks with office chairs, while suites provide separate living areas with couches and tables. Room decor is simple, including bright white bedding. Carpeting and drapes provide balance with tans and natural colors. Photography prints of nature and Americana tastefully, but generically, decorate the walls. All rooms include a coffeemaker and free
Starbucks coffee, and some have refrigerators and free bottled water. The windows in some of the guest rooms are
smaller than in other parts of the hotel, but there is still a lot of natural
light. Bathrooms are on the small side, but not cramped. Guests will find a shower cap, shaving cream, and a
variety of free personal grooming products in their bathrooms. A massaging showerhead is a nice perk.
Features
Some free amenities and an indoor pool
Basic Wi-Fi is free for all guests, but high speed Internet
is included only for those who stay in Superior, Club
Level, or Luxury suites. However, guests in traditional rooms can choose to pay extra for upgraded Wi-Fi. Breakfast is free for Club Level guests and Sheraton Club members only, everyone else has to pay. Self-parking is available, with a daily fee. The Sheraton Needham's fitness center is open to everyone at no
extra charge. It's brightly lit, with cardio equipment, free weights, and pilates/yoga mats. The hotel
provides baskets of free earbuds in the fitness center. An indoor pool is a nice perk for this price point. Drinks and
pre-packaged snacks can be purchased at a canteen area, located near the front
desk. There is an additional snack bar and coffee center in the main lobby area, where guests can order Starbucks brand coffees and espresso drinks. The hotel restaurant has a full bar and prepares conventional
American-style cuisine with special deals, like 25-cent wings, on certain days of the week.
