AC Hotel by Marriott New Orleans Bourbon

Renovations undertaken in November 2017 brought new life to the city’s historic cotton exchange building in the form of the chic AC Hotel New Orleans Bourbon/French Quarter Area. While the property is officially part of the Marriott family, it feels far more cool and modern than a typical chain hotel. Sleek hardwood floors and a minimalist vibe start in the lobby and carry through to the rest of the hotel. Rooms on certain floors capitalize on the building’s original architecture, with gorgeous elegant arched windows overlooking the city.

Given its great location in the Central Business District and proximity to the French Quarter, the hotel attracts a mix of tourists and business guests. When they’re not coming and going, they can be found taking advantage of the hotel’s great public spaces, including the nice outdoor courtyard and the hip AC Lounge in the lobby, full of stylish leather seating for kicking back with a drink. For guests who want a combination of style, sophistication, and great location, the AC Hotel New Orleans is an excellent choice.

The AC Hotel New Orleans enjoys a prime location in the center of the city’s Central Business District, surrounded by several offices, restaurants, and bars. Bourbon Street, the pulsing main drag of the vibrant French Quarter, is three minutes away on foot. Harrah’s New Orleans Casino is a 10-minute walk away, while the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is a 15-minute walk away. A 10-minute drive takes guests to the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The city’s famous streetcar passes directly in front of the hotel, and guests can use it to get to the center of the Garden District in about 20 minutes. Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is 20 to 25 minutes away by car. 

The bright, sleek rooms at the AC Hotel New Orleans exude a sense of tranquility and calm. The hotel offers two different styles of upgraded rooms with king beds. King Guest Rooms with Sofas include large sitting areas with posh leather sofas. Larger King Guest Rooms feature smaller sitting areas with armchairs and are set on higher floors, offering panoramic views of the city. Modern hardwood floors blend with minimalist furnishings to create an environment that’s simple yet sophisticated. At the entry level are the King Guest Rooms and Double/Double Guest Rooms, which come with free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges. Floor-to-ceiling windows come standard, and rooms on certain floors feature beautiful arched windows that have survived since the building’s original days as the old cotton exchange. Closets are equipped with safes, irons, and ironing boards. Beautiful bathrooms lined with sleek black marble offer robes, hairdryers, walk-in showers, and Korres toiletries.

AC Hotel New Orleans offers guests a wide range of modern amenities. AC Kitchen is a large, contemporary dining room with stylish decor and chic light fixtures. Every morning, the restaurant offers a huge continental breakfast buffet (for a fee), complete  with the hotel chain’s signature meat slicer. The swanky AC Lounge off the lobby features plenty of comfortable leather seating. In the evening, the sleek, modern bar opens up and serves handcrafted cocktails, tapas, and small plates. There’s no full-service restaurant at the hotel. For guests on the go, a small convenience store sells snacks, drinks, beer, wine, and basic toiletries.

Tucked on one of the guest room floors, the hotel’s beautiful courtyard offers an alternative place for lounging, with lots of comfortable outdoor chairs and couches. A modern 24-hour fitness center features Precor cardio machines and free weights. There’s no pool.

The hotel also offers nice facilities for business travelers. Located near the lobby is a stylish business center and library area. There’s also 4,680 square feet of meeting space available. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Both off-site and valet parking are offered for a fee.
