Comfort Suites New Orleans

This Quality Suites has a quiet and casual vibe. It’s a modern hotel with a modest lobby that doubles as the breakfast room, where there's a large flat-screen TV and clusters of tables that fill up during peak breakfast hours. The space is dressed up with colorful carpet, bright pieces of art depicting the French Quarter, and lots of plastic tropical plants in large vases. The hotel hosts a good deal of pre- and post-cruise passengers, business travelers on overnight stays, and tourists seeking more budget-friendly options than those in the French Quarter. 

The hotel is located in northeast New Orleans, on the edge of a large residential area just off Interstate 10 and few blocks from Lake Pontchartrain. It’s a relatively safe area, with a few restaurants and gas stations just a short walk away. But it isn't a desirable place for strolls, as the neighborhood is still coming back to life after suffering the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

New Orleans Fairgrounds can be reached in about 13-minutes by car, and it's an 18-minute drive to City Park. The cruise ship terminals, French Quarter, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and Tulane University in the heart of the city are approximately 20 minutes away by car. A city bus that runs into downtown stops outside the hotel, but it can take up to one hour or more to reach some attractions. Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is about a 23-minute drive. 

Guest rooms at Comfort Suites New Orleans are contemporary and well-maintained. They're done in brown and beige neutral tones, with aqua accent walls and navy throws on beds. Past guests have noted that mattresses are exceptionally comfortable. There's dark wood furniture throughout, including desks and headboards. Despite the hotel’s name, not all of the property's units are suites, but but even the King and Double-Queen rooms are fairly spacious. The larger, studio-style Suites include twin sleeper sofas and coffee tables. Amenities are a plus, with coffeemakers, microwaves, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, but units lack safes. Bathrooms have a similar style, with extra-long tan vanities and good lighting. They all contain shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. The units are generally quiet, but views are nothing more than surrounding buildings and roads.

This budget-friendly hotel offers an attractive amenities package that enhances its value, and the free hot breakfast buffet with omelets is a highlight. There's no full-service restaurant, but free coffee is available all day in the lobby, and there's a small convenience store that sells snacks and sundries. Other perks include an outdoor pool that gets direct sunlight, and a small fitness center with Precor cardio and weight-training equipment. 

The business center has one computer and printer and there's a guest laundry room with two washer/dryers. Parking is free on the hotel’s surface lot, and there are packages offered that allow cruise passengers to park their cars in the lot while they’re away. There's also free weekday newspapers and Wi-Fi throughout.
