Hyatt Herald Square New York exudes a trendy style that goes above and beyond for a chain hotel. The lobby was thoughtfully designed in connection with the espresso bar so its both chic and rustic with an overall sophisticated atmosphere. The front desk is flanked with gray and red chairs for guests to sit on while checking in. Off to the side is a rustic wooden espresso counter, as well as a long, narrow table that runs the length of a wall with cute wooden and iron stools that pull out. A bookshelf and clocks on the walls that represent times around the world are a sophisticated touch. While the lobby and espresso bar is where visitors usually congregate, the rooftop bar is especially popular in the summer for its views of the Empire State Building and Manhattan. Most guests are a mix of tourists (couples and families) and business travelers. 

Hyatt Herald Square is right in the mix of all that’s happening in Midtown New York City, which means the surrounding area is filled with other hotels, chain restaurants, and delis. It’s a four-minute walk to the Empire State Building and six minutes on foot to Madison Square Garden. Times Square is a 14-minute walk from the hotel and Rockefeller Center is a 22-minute walk away. It's about a 30-minute walk to Central Park. The closest subway stop takes four minutes to reach on foot, making all of New York City accessible. It takes around 35 minutes by car to reach LaGuardia Airport and about 45 minutes to JFK International Airport. 

Rooms at the Hyatt Herald Square New York are modern and come with a combination of simplistic blond and dark wooden furniture. While the brown plaid couches aren’t extremely stylish, they offset the white beds and the pink swirly artwork on the ceilings above the bed. Like most hotels in New York City, the rooms run on the small side, so there’s not a lot of storage space. Plenty of amenities like mini-fridges, coffeemakers, free Wi-Fi, small desks, flat-screen TVs, and safes, make the rooms convenient. Rooms with views of the Empire State Building are the most sought after. The modern bathrooms have vessel sinks, showers, hairdryers, and KenetMD toiletries. Some guests have complained about noisy air-conditioning systems. 

One of the hotel's biggest assets is its wide range of dining options. Up on 20 is the popular rooftop seasonal bar with great Manhattan and Empire State Building views, but it’s only open seasonally. The Den is the American bistro that serves a hot, made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There’s also an espresso bar and snack shop to satisfy other drink and food needs. While there’s no pool or spa, the hotel has a modest fitness center with LifeFitness treadmills, an elliptical machine, and free weights. Wi-Fi is free throughout, but can be reportedly slow. Both pets and valet parking incur fees.
