The Langham Place Fifth Avenue is a modern luxury hotel conveniently located a four-minute walk from the Empire State Building and three blocks from Bryant Park. Some of the 234 spacious and minimalist rooms come with kitchens and laundry machines, making this an appealing choice for business travelers and families. Michelin-star Ai Fiori restaurant provides a distinct Riviera setting and Italian and French cuisine. Some of the 7,500 square feet of flexible meetings, events, and weddings spaces feature skyline or Empire State Building views. Chuan Body + Soul includes a modern fitness center and a Himalayan salt sauna. Just about the only downside is how simply the rooms are decorated. For a more striking design and an indoor pool, consider the nearby Chatwal, A Luxury Collection Hotel, New York.
Scene
Impeccably designed luxury hotel with Empire State Building views
The guest rooms of Langham New York Fifth Avenue (which sit beneath 184 residential condos) are housed in a modern, 60-story glass tower that was built from the ground up for the hotel's opening in 2010. Soaring above the nearby buildings, the hotel has changed the landscape of its Midtown address. Inside, the lobby features a yellow-lit reception desk and a dramatic winding staircase. One flight up is restaurateur Michael White's acclaimed Ai Fiori restaurant and its accompanying bar, serving cutting-edge Italian fare. But it's the service that sets the Langham apart and guests are attended to from the moment they walk in. In fact, a personal concierge calls guests before they arrive, to see if they need help with things like dinner reservations. The hotel is popular with business travelers and also sees its fair share of tourists.
Location
On Fifth Avenue, three blocks from Bryant Park and eight minutes to Times Square
This Langham is located on, you guessed it, Fifth Avenue, one of the world's most famous streets, in the heart of Midtown, Manhattan. During the day, the block is constantly busy with pedestrians and a steady stream of cars, but come nightfall the immediate area is fairly quiet for Manhattan. The address is incredibly convenient for tourists: Several of New York's biggest sites and shopping areas are within walking distance, and 15 subway lines are just blocks away. The entire area is crowded with casual restaurants, chain stores, pharmacies, and banks.- Four-minute walk to the Empire State Building
Rooms
The rooms at Langham Place are huge and well-equipped -- but the minimalist decor can make them feel empty.
The large rooms start at 400 square feet, and all have king beds and the same top-notch amenities, including iPod docks, Nespresso coffeemakers, 52-inch flat-screen TVs, minibars, DVD players, and free Wi-Fi. Luxurious Swedish Duxiana beds (in configurations of twin, double, and king beds) are made with Pratesi linens. Some units upgrade to kitchens and laundry machines. Minimalist decor is intentional and modern with Italian walnut wood paneling and bare beige walls, but the sparse decorations are a bit of a letdown to some. The spacious marble bathrooms have separate soaking tubs and walk-in showers with rain showerheads. Lorenzo Villoresi Firenze for Botega toiletries are provided. Evening turndown service is a luxe touch. Some of the rooms have beautiful views of the Empire State Building, while others overlook a courtyard.
Features

Chuan Body + Soul features 11 treatment rooms and a long list of relaxing treatments. Locker rooms and a co-ed relaxation space with snacks are provided. Plus, there's a hydrotherapy circuit that includes a sauna, steam room, ice cave, and salt sauna. The nearby 24-hour fitness center is loaded with TechnoGym equipment and weights. Event and wedding spaces can include city skyline views. There's free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and a 24-hour business center with free access to computers, fax machines, printers, and scanners.
