The MOXY NYC Downtown may be part of the Marriott portfolio, but it feels far from a chain hotel. The attention-grabbing neon-pink logo on the facade is hard to miss, hinting at the fun and quirky interiors. Hallways are dimly lit, illuminated only by moody purple lights. However, the hotel’s main level, three floors up from the ground-floor lobby, is where all the action occurs. Here, a large, living-room-like space serves as both a co-working spot and cocktail lounge. Guests can be found relaxing on the comfy chairs and couches, playing arcade games like Ms. Pacman, enjoying a round of skee-ball, or posting up at the bar for cocktails. Retro decor, like vintage album covers and Lego art, set the scene, while DJs provide the soundtrack most evenings. A basketball court, with reclaimed gym floors and a hoop, does double duty as an event and meeting space. Given the amenities on offer, the clientele here naturally leans young.
