Bottom Line

Ranked among the best small hotels in Canada, the 17-room upscale 124 on Queen Hotel and Spa offers modern, elegant rooms, from spacious traditional hotel rooms to multi-room villas with full kitchens and fireplaces. The hotel is surrounded by the boutiques and restaurants along Queen Street in quaint Niagara-on-the-Lake, a picturesque town on the shores of Lake Ontario about a 30-minute drive from Niagara Falls, Ontario. On-site features like Spa at 124 add value to a stay here, though the property lacks a pool or hotel bar. Guests looking for an outdoor pool should try the Pillar and Post Inn, though rooms aren't as stylish.

A red barn known as The Smithy holds the hotels reception and lobby, which has plush couches and chairs arranged around a dry stone-stacked fireplace, and there is also a coffee machine for guests to use around the clock. Many rooms are situated above ground-level businesses, like the popular Treadwell Cuisine restaurant, making the hotel feel like a true part of the town.
