Bottom Line

This 25-room, four-pearl property is a tasteful oasis tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood just outside the City Centre. Rooms are spacious and well decorated with outdoor sitting areas offering great city or ocean views or a spot by the lush tropical garden near an outdoor pool. While within walking distance of many of Nice’s top attractions, the hilltop hotel could be a bit of a difficult climb for some guests. For a boutique property a little more central to the city, consider the La Villa Nice Victor Hugo, which also may offer lower rates.

Hotel du Petit Palais

Scene

Quiet, classy, and cozy with a lush tropical garden

The Hotel du Petit Palais is a beautiful early 20th century villa that once was the residence of noted French actor and playwright Sacha Guitry. The boutique property’s warm earth tones, Buddha statues, Asian artwork and lush tropical garden with pool, large palm trees, and secluded seating areas create a quiet oasis to relax following a busy day of enjoying the beach and Old Town. A small, granite-top bar in the corner of the cozy dining area adds to the comfortable, casual feel. Rich red carpeting, floor lamps, and dark wood chairs lining the halls add more tasteful touches.

Location

In a posh, quiet neighborhood away from the tourist bustle

The Hotel du Petit Palais is located in a quiet residential neighborhood of Cimiez, surrounded by impressive 19th and early 20th century villas. It's just outside the City Centre of Nice, about a 15-minute walk to Old Town and the city’s train station. The Museé National Marc Chagall is approximately a 10-minute walk, as is Nice Etoile Shopping Center. The city’s airport is approximately 11 minutes by car. For those who like to walk in the picturesque city, the city’s beaches are about a 30-minute walk. But, the hotel rests atop a steep hill that some people may find difficult or uncomfortable to climb.
