Hotel les Cigales

The Hotel les Cigales is a small, no-frills hotel that was renovated in 2000. The tiny three-story building features an elegant cream-color facade with ornamental lintels, Juliet balconies, and top dormer windows. The reception area is straight forward with somewhat generic provencal decor: white-and-burgundy tile floors meet yellow walls. There's a reception desk and a few chairs where guests can relax near a brochure display. The reception area's color palette extends throughout the hotel, into both the guest rooms and the breakfast area, which is the hotel's only other common space apart from the roof terrace. This hotel is also equipped with an elevator. Guests who stay here tend to be tourists who want to explore Nice, including solo travelers, couples, and some families.

Hotel les Cigales is situated on a narrow, one-way street in the heart of Nice. It's a six-minute walk from the Promenade des Anglais and the beach, with plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. The Massena Museum is a five-minute walk from the hotel and the popular shopping street Jean Médecin is about an eight-minute walk. The Cours Saleya market, Old Town (Vieille Ville), The Nice Opera, the National Theater of Nice, and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art are about a mile away, or a 15- to 20-minute walk. The closest bus stop is about a three-minute walk from the hotel and Nice-Ville, the main train station, is about a 10-minute walk. The Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is about a 15- to 20-minute drive without traffic. Limited parking is available on-site and airport transportation can be arranged for an extra fee. 

The hotel's 19 rooms are clean and decorated with no-frills decor. They have red wall-to-wall carpeting, pale yellow walls, and light wood-laminate furniture, including work desks and chairs. Black-and-white photographs hang above the beds. Single, twin, and double rooms are available. Top floor rooms can feel cramped because of the eaves, but past guests have found the rooms clean and the beds comfortable. All rooms are air conditioned and include 20-inch LCD TVs with satellite TV, safes, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms have blue tiled floors and blue and white mosaic tiled walls, plus standing showers and tubs. Bathrooms include dated hairdryers and free individual toiletries. Most rooms overlook the streets of Nice. Past guests have occasionally complained that the rooms aren't soundproof.

This hotel has few extra property features other than a small reception area, a basement breakfast room, and a seasonal rooftop terrace with lounge furniture, opened from April through October. A continental breakfast is available for an extra fee and includes a cold spread of fresh bread, croissants, fruit, cheese, and meat. Bicycle rentals are available on-site and limited parking is also available for an extra fee. Some pets are allowed but bringing them costs an extra fee. The hotel has a 24-hour reception with staff who can provide concierge service, luggage storage, laundry and dry cleaning, airport transportation, or town-car service. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
