Bottom Line

The 30-unit Beachfront Manor Hotel is a serene, three-pearl hillside property on a sparsely occupied stretch of sand with unobstructed Pacific Ocean views. Rose petals and chocolates on the beds add a touch of romance to rooms and suites, many of which come with fireplaces, balconies with ocean views, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Some units also have hot tubs on the decks. The sister hotel -- where check-ins are facilitated -- offers laundry facilities, but neither property has a restaurant. The Coho Oceanfront Lodge has more facilities, including a pool and a breakfast lounge.

Beachfront Manor Hotel

Scene

Romantic beachfront retreat in Lincoln City

Built on a hillside that hangs over the sandy shores of Oregon’s Pacific coast, the Beachfront Manor Hotel is a quaint three-pearl property with a brown clapboard exterior. The majority of the guests here are couples, drawn to the romantic ocean views and quiet beach atmosphere. There are no common areas or lobby at this property and check-ins take place at the sister hotel -- the Starfish Manor -- just next door. Guests not prepared to do a lot of climbing should note that the six-floor hotel lacks elevators. A renovation of the hotel was completed in 2007, with old furniture donated to Habitat for Humanity and energy efficient fixtures installed. The hotel also supports local businesses and uses some Oregon-built furniture.

Location

Beachfront Lincoln City location on the Pacific Ocean

This beachfront property is on Lincoln City’s northern end, and is surrounded by other hotels and residences. It's within easy walking distance to cafes, restaurants, and markets on the Oregon Coast Highway and is right on the beach, accessible from a staircase at the rear of the property. The beach doesn't get too crowded, even during holidays. For more excitement, a free shuttle takes guests to the nearby Chinook Winds Casino in about five minutes. Barking Dog Farms, where guests can stock up on organic produce, is a 15-minute drive away, while the Drift Creek Covered Bridge is 20 minutes by car. Siletz Bay Park is 15 minutes away. It’s a 10-minute drive to the North Lincoln County Historical Museum. Salem is around an hour and a half away, while driving to Portland or Eugene takes two hours.

Rooms

Comfy, simple rooms with romantic touches, fireplaces, and ocean views

Rose petals, chocolates, and fluffy bathrobes on beds help infuse romance into the rooms, most of which also have gas fireplaces. Note that children are not allowed in some units. Most rooms feature flat-screen TVs, DVD/CD players, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, irons/ironing boards, and fans, but none come with air-conditioning and housekeeping is only available on request. Pale-green furnishings, leather furniture, and black decor gives rooms a simple and clean appearance, although the overall effect is unexciting, and it's the stunning ocean views that are the main draw. However, note that Sea Breeze Rooms don’t have ocean views or fireplaces. Bathrooms are basic, offering hairdryers and either shower/tub combos or walk-in showers. Rubber ducks are a fun touch.

Beachfront Suites feature sitting areas with two-seat bistro tables and oceanfront decks with hot tubs. Ocean Rooms are on the top floors, overlooking the beachfront building, and some have sitting areas and decks with hot tubs. Studio-style Waves Rooms are on the top floor and have partial ocean views. Those staying on the ground floor can access the beach directly from their patios.

Direct beach access, laundry facilities, movie rentals, and business services

The Beachfront Manor Hotel lacks common areas and only offers limited amenities. There are coin-operated laundry facilities at the sister hotel next door -- the Starfish Manor -- where there's also a lobby with free coffee and DVD rentals (for a fee). Faxing and copying services and additional equipment -- such as irons, blenders or toasters -- can also be requested at the sister hotel’s front desk. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property but the signal is reportedly weak in some rooms.
