Bottom Line

The three-pearl Coho Oceanfront Lodge is a low-key, 65-room resort overlooking the beach. Features include ocean-facing fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs, weekly wine tastings, movie rentals, cookies in the lobby, and in-room massages. There are also a breakfast cafe, hot tub, sauna, gym, and an indoor pool that’s for adults only at night. Most units offer oceanfront balconies, and some have kitchenettes, fireplaces, and/or bunk beds for kids. Although the property looks out over the beach, it's perched on a cliff and beach access is one block away. The Beachfront Manor Hotel is right on the sand, but it doesn’t have as many amenities.

The Coho Oceanfront Lodge

Scene

Mid-range beachfront hotel with extras for families, couples, and pet owners

The three-story Coho Oceanfront Lodge looks a bit like an early-1990s apartment building, with simple exteriors with tan siding. The lobby is considerably more contemporary, with a small seating area. A few modern tan-colored sofas, and wall-mounted wine bottles add a slight Tuscan vibe to the space. The front desk features a neon-lit backdrop with wave designs. The lobby lounge offers wine, beer, and snacks for sale, along with free coffee and cookies. Wine tastings are offered once a week. Special packages with kites, beach toys, dog beds, firewood, s’more kits and/or romantic perks are also available.

Other common areas include a patio in the parking lot with comfy chairs and a sofa. The best views -- and opportunities to whale watch -- can be found at the rear of the property. Fire pits and Adirondack chairs are tucked into the sand and a patio area offers comfy furniture that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
