Bottom Line

Bryan’s Spanish Cove is a mid-range condo property, with 44 units and a pirate theme. It's off the I-4 interstate, about a 10-minute drive to the theme parks and other area attractions. The two-bedroom, two-bath units can sleep up to six people, have fully-equipped kitchens, living rooms with dining areas, jetted tubs in the master baths, and washer/dryers. Some have terraces with seating and views of Lake Bryan. The outdoor pool with a hot tub is well-situated next to the lake, and there's a small fishing dock. The dated and tired-looking condo decor, right down to green-laminate countertops, tube-style TVs, white tile fireplaces, and washed-out colors, could use a refresh, though. There's also a mandatory resort fee for Wi-Fi, coffee and tea, boating and fishing equipment, and use of the pool, hot tub, and small business center. There is no restaurant on-site.

Bryan’s Spanish Cove

Scene

Small resort with a pirate theme in a wooded area off the interstate

Bryan’s Spanish Cove is a former apartment complex turned resort with a pirate theme -- signs resemble old treasure maps. Rope and wood bridges are around the property, and a pirate ship’s mast stands tall at the entrance. There's a stone fireplace in the Galley Social Room, where wood beams in the ceiling resemble the ribs of a ship, and a sailor statue stands in the corner, continuing the pirate theme. Thatched roof pavilions with green picnic tables are sprinkled throughout the well-landscaped property, and there is a dock area where guests can rent boats, a barbecue area, and a shuffleboard court across from the pool. A red-tiled patio garden with a fountain and bench seating is surrounded by shrubs, palm trees, and plants, contributing to the casual, relaxed ambience of this small resort.

Rooms

Fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryers; some units have terraces with lake views

Nautically themed two-bedroom/two-bathroom condos have fully equipped kitchens with dining tables and an ocean-theme wallpaper border. Some units have screened-in porches with stunning lake views, while others have vaulted ceilings. White appliances are well-maintained, but coffeemakers, blenders, and toasters sit on unattractive, green laminate counters. Stackable washer/dryers reside in the closet. Living rooms have blue carpeting and flat-screen TVs, but the furnishings are dated, with stained dining-room chairs, worn patterned couches, and out-of-date white tile fireplaces in the living room. Bedrooms continue the nautical theme, with white wood bed frames, blue striped pillows and bed runners, and a lighthouse-themed wallpaper border. Bathrooms are large, with shower/tub combos, tan tile, and white sinks with chrome fixtures. Master baths have small whirlpool tubs. Terra Green toiletries are provided in both bathrooms.
