Bottom Line

A mid-range hotel near Universal Studios, the Four Points by Sheraton International Drive is a no-frills option ideal for families or business travelers. Its 301 rooms are bland and generic, but they feature sleek bathrooms and sufficient amenities such as flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and hairdryers. Note that not all rooms have mini-fridges. An outdoor pool and tiny fitness center are added perks, plus Wi-Fi and parking are both free. The immediate neighborhood surrounding the hotel is somewhat seedy, so travelers who’d prefer to be closer to Universal should consider the pricier Hyatt Place Universal Studios

Four Points by Sheraton Orlando International Drive

Scene

No-frills, mid-range hotel that appeals to a variety of travelers

It’s hard to miss the Four Points by Sheraton. Thanks to the building’s tall cylindrical shape and giant rooftop globe that lights up at night, the hotel is pretty easy to spot from the road. Inside, the lobby is less exciting, with white walls, white tile floors, and generic gray furniture. But, it’s a practical space, with communal computers, free coffee, and an Orlando theme parks concierge. An outdoor pool and breakfast room see some activity, though most guests spend their days outside the property. The hotel sees a mix of guests, from families with kids to business travelers.

Location

On International Drive, six-minute drive from Universal Studios

Like its name suggests, the Four Points by Sheraton Orlando International Drive is located on International Drive, a major thoroughfare that crisscrosses its way from northern Orlando (close to Universal) to southern Orlando (close to Disney World). Since International Drive is miles long, it passes through several neighborhoods; some are upscale (near the convention center) and others are somewhat seedy (like the one around this Sheraton). The area around the hotel isn’t unsafe, it just has a lot of low-budget hotels and neon-sign bars and can feel a bit sketchy at times. The Four Points is a six-minute drive from the Universal theme parks, about a 20- to 25-minute drive from Disney parks, and a 20-minute drive from Orlando International Airport.

Rooms

Generic rooms with drab decor

The Four Points by Sheraton is housed in an older building, and though many spaces have been renovated since it opened, rooms still feel drab and dated. Brown-patterned carpet, beige walls, and popcorn ceilings make rooms feel dark and generic. Beds are dressed in white linens, and there’s no wall art to add character. A desk/armoire combo holds a flat-screen TV, ironing equipment, and extra pillows, but it doesn’t provide much work space. There are several quality in-room amenities, including single-cup coffeemakers, USB charging stations, and electronic safes, but not all rooms have mini-fridges. Large rectangular windows overlook the parking lot and surrounding hotels, but rooms don’t have outdoor balconies or patios. Bathrooms are surprisingly sleek, with gray-and-white-speckled counters and shower/tub combos. The hotel provides shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in wall-mounted dispensers, as well as hairdryers.

Features

An outdoor pool, tiny fitness center, and a breakfast room

At the Four Points by Sheraton, the outdoor pool and small fitness center are the standout features. The pool is tiny, but it sees plenty of use from guests. It’s surrounded by lounge chairs and has cool amenities, including a fire pit and a small kids' splash zone. There’s also an adjacent open-air bar, though its hours are seasonal. The hotel’s tiny gym has several LifeFitness cardio machines, some free weights, and yoga mats. There's no full restaurant, but a breakfast buffet is available for a fee. Guests interested in visiting local theme parks can visit the on-site Orlando concierge for tickets, restaurant reservations, and suggestions for local attractions. Parking and Wi-Fi are free.
