Bottom Line

Housed in a renovated 1960s building right on the beach, Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites is a modern, stylish budget property with a nice pool area and a fire pit facing the ocean. The 42 rooms have trendy decor, and those facing the beach have small balconies. The free continental breakfast is a bit limited, and the small parking lot next to the hotel fills up quickly, but  additional parking is available across the street. Be aware that more than two guests in a room entails an additional fee. Travelers might also want to consider the Oceanfront Inn, which has less style but similar rates.

Oyster Hotel Review

Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites

Scene

Retro hotel updated with stylish decor

Built in the 1960s, the hotel has a blocky white-and-blue-striped exterior with a slightly retro feel that has been updated with sophisticated decor, though the vibe is casual and relaxed. There’s a lot of black and white, and the walls are festooned with colorful modern art. The breakfast area has modern, steeply angled black chairs. The beachfront pool area has semi-private nooks with round beds and sun loungers, but the main draw is the oceanfront fire pit. Located in a sandy area separated from the beach by a panel of frosted glass, the pit is surrounded by white Adirondack chairs and stone benches, providing a nice, relaxing area in the evening. The hotel draws lots couples, groups of friends, and families.

Rooms

Rooms have modern decor, and oceanfront rooms have balconies

The 42 rooms have funky, modern decor, including plush beds that rest against patterned black-and-gray fabric headboards. Sleek white desks and nightstands are topped with glass, and the small kitchenettes have microwaves, full refrigerators, sinks, and electric burners. Bathrooms have zebra-striped bowl sinks and single black-tile walls. Glass-doored stall showers have rainfall showerheads, though guests have complained about water pressure. Oceanfront rooms have small balconies with tables and chairs, and some come with in-room jetted tubs. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, safes, irons and ironing boards, and hairdryers.
