Bottom Line

The three-pearl Hilton Palm Springs Resort has some fancy amenities like an on-site spa, large ballrooms, and a lavish swimming pool complete with two hot tubs, cabanas, and an outdoor bar. It's centrally located within a 10-minute walk of The Vineyard Shopping Center and downtown Palm Springs, many guests take advantage of a free trolley service to get around. Three on-site restaurants include an indoor lounge and casual American dining at The Terrace. 257 guest rooms are less inspiring than the outdoor spaces, with basic and bland decor, though pool views are lovely from furnished terraces. Check rates at the nearby Riviera Palm Springs for sleeker rooms and an overall fresher look with many of the same amenities.

Hilton Palm Springs

Scene

A large boxy hotel with a fun retro decor and '70s-style architecture

Hilton Palm Springs’ is a large boxy hotel with a '70s style architecture and a colorful sort of groovy decor. The hotel lobby is done in a color palette of white, brown, and tan. Red and blue accents in the form of lamps, pillows, and chairs are highlighted by geographically abstract carpets in the same colors. The hallways are similar in style but with the addition of yellow geometric flower shapes on the carpets. Hilton Palm Springs has over 30,000 square feet of convention and ballroom space which includes large rooms filled with projection screens and tables. Most guests are at the hotel to utilize the convention and ballroom spaces, though families with kids and couples are drawn here for the massive pool deck.

Rooms

Large rooms with terraces and some with pool access

Like the lobby, the rooms at The Hilton Palm Springs have a vintage style reminiscent of the ‘70s, though the style here reads as more bland and dated than the colorful and fun atmosphere found downstairs. Boxy wooden brown headboards and side tables match brown retro-inspired chairs. The rooms have up-to-date technology options like a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and plug-in options for HDMI, Audio and PC, and USB cables. Rooms are spacious, especially king-size rooms which include a pullout couch. Rooms facing the pool courtyard give a pleasant view from the furnished terrace of the swimming pool and the mountains in the distance; those on the first floor have direct access to the pool. Bathrooms feature ample counter and storage space, large shower/tub combos, and Peter Roth toiletries. Guests celebrating their wedding in the hotel ballrooms are sometimes given a free night’s stay in a suite, depending on their package.

Features

Massive pool deck and cabanas, spa, and three restaurants

By far the best feature of Hilton Palm Springs Resort is the pool area. There is a large pool deck with 15,000 square feet devoted to two hot tubs and a huge pool landscaped with palm trees and flowering bushes. There are large cabanas for rent with refrigerators, fans, and safes. The pool and cabanas are serviced by Al Fresco, an outdoor bar which provides mixed drinks, food, and a water mister. Poolside gas fire pits are also a nice touch. Terrace Restaurant has indoor and outdoor dining with stylish seating such as plush couches centered around tables. They serve a simple breakfast buffet at a cost, and lunch and dinner as well. Harvey's Lounge provides cocktails and flat-screen TVs, along with happy hour specials. Room service is available. Another notable feature is Elements Spa; it provides massages, facials, and nail services. The 24-hour fitness center includes a number of exercise machines with attached televisions. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there are two ballrooms and 12 large function rooms for rent. Hilton Palm Springs has an on-site convenience store, clothing store, and gift shop so guests don't have to run to a local store for anything they've forgotten to bring.
