Bottom Line

Emerald Beach is one of Panama City's high-rise beach resorts. This condo property shares common spaces with the Wyndham, which is a bit unorthodox, but the pools are big with plenty of lounge space. Condo units have full kitchens, washer/dryers, and dishwashers, but decor can vary wildly as some units are privately owned. The upper floor Sky Bar is a unique feature in the area, offering nightlife including music performances, karaoke night, and football games on TV. While the resort has some strict rules -- like no coolers or drinks by the pool -- the beach is beautiful and condos offer big balconies with Gulf views.

Emerald Beach Resort

Location

Beachside on Front Beach Road in Panama City

The Emerald Beach Resort is on the less-crowded west end of Panama City's long white stretch of beach. It is just minutes from area favorites like the shopping and dining complex Pier Park and Shipwreck Island Water park. In this part of Florida however, a car is needed to travel even short distances. Emerald offers shuttle services and taxis are available but these costs add up quickly.

Panama City is a Florida family beach town with all that implies. The area is full of put-put golf, amusement parks, shopping, and the beautiful St. Andrews State Park. The park has the virtues of white sand beaches, nature trails, and plenty of opportunities for water sports. The immediate area is also home to some challenging golf courses Panama City also has a downtown area with more vintage charm than most similar beach towns. Downtown, visitors can find seasonal events and art shows as well as live music and shopping.

  • 20-minute drive to NW Florida Beaches International Airport
  • 5-minute walk to Gulf World amusement park
  • 4-minute drive to Shipwreck Island Water park
  • 4-minute drive to Pier Park
  • 7-minute drive to Holiday Golf Club -- a scenic, semi-private 18-hole course.
  • 8-minute drive to the Museum of Man and the Sea
  • 14-minute drive to Carillon Beach
  • 22-minute drive to downtown Panama City
  • 23-minute drive to the Nicklaus course at Bay Point Resort
  • 23-minute drive to fresh produce and ferry rides at St. Andrews Waterfront Farmers Market
  • 27-minute drive to boating fishing and perfect picnic spots at St. Andrews State Park
