The 189-room Citadines Prestige Les Halles is an upscale, apartment-style hotel; each room has a kitchenette including mini-fridge and tea kettle, plus living space. The property is located a few steps away from the Forum des Halles, the teeming Parisian shopping hub situated in the 1st arrondissement that is a draw to city dwellers and tourists alike (area construction can be a source of noise during the day). A small business center with an Internet terminal and a printer is free for guest use in the lobby, as is an espresso machine. The highlights here are the central location and the spacious, contemporary apartments.
Scene
Contemporary apartment-style hotel
Common areas in the hotel are bright, stylish, and welcoming. The lobby features a glass atrium and imitation mid-century chairs in purple and yellow. Visitors may want to keep in mind that the area of Les Halles is an extremely trafficked, noisy area and not particularly restful in the day, and that local construction may preclude being able to easily access the front of the hotel via vehicle. Overall the atmosphere is sophisticated and polished, though guests with street-facing rooms may deal with some construction noise.
Location
Situated immediately next to Les Halles shopping center, within walking distance of many museums and attractions
Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Place St Michel, and many more attractions, are all within a 15-minute walk of the hotel. The Citadines Prestige is situated directly next to the Forum des Halles, once an above-ground open-air market, now a subterranean shopping mall surrounded by additional clothing and souvenir shops. Travel to and from Charles de Gaulle is about an hour and a half if using one of the privately run shuttle buses that depart from Montparnasse.
Rooms
Contemporary rooms with wood floors and black-and-white photos of Paris
Contemporary fixtures and muted colors characterize these chic, tidy apartments. '60s-era Saarinen-style chairs, wood floors, and granite countertops make for stylish, if a touch plain, apartments. Some guests have remarked that street-facing rooms receive some noise at night, and that ongoing construction at Les Halles may also be a cause of noise in the day. Some rooms have beds pushed against the wall. Fridge, kettle, microwave, stove, and cooking implements are in all rooms.
Features
Small business center and free coffee in lobby, meeting room, and modest fitness center
A small, pleasant meeting room with long horizontal windows is equipped with audiovisual material including a projector and projection screen. Free weights, two treadmills, and an elliptical machine constitute the small but nicely lit fitness center, which provides guests with hand towels. A modern breakfast room features frosted panel windows, recessed lighting, and a buffet-style setup. Breakfast is available for a fee.
