Bottom Line

The Hotel Home Paris 16 is a mid-range, 17-apartment property located in an upmarket, very residential district in west Paris. The location is great for those wanting to immerse themselves in residential, authentic Paris -- a next door boulangerie even provides freshly baked croissants. Apartments certainly feel dated, but are clean and comfortable with well-equipped kitchens and bathrooms. The single, tiny elevator doesn't serve all rooms and the location is far from the city's main attractions, though overall it's a great self-catering option away from the tourist hoards -- discounts for longer term are also a bonus.

HotelHome Paris 16

Scene

Typically Parisian Haussmann building with residential vibe

The Hotel Home Paris 16 is housed in a typically Parisian Haussmann building with a quaint white-stone facade adorned with wrought iron window decor and elegantly curled eaves. Although built in the 1930s, interiors have been sympathetically renovated with the building's Belle Époque styling with molded plaster cornices and paneling and tiled scenes of 19th-century Paris. Being very much an apart-hotel, reception is a small antique desk in a simple side room and there's little in the way of public areas beyond a quiet and secluded courtyard full of potted plants and overlooked by most of the apartments. Accommodation is spread across two wings; the floors of one wing are accessible via a tiny, old-fashioned elevator, while those in the other are reached by (fairly steep) stairs. The atmosphere is very residential and veers well away from feeling touristy, appealing to couples and families keen to immerse themselves in a more authentic Paris experience.

Location

Set in the swanky and residential 16th arrondissement in the west of Paris

The hotel is located in a swanky and residential area of the 16th arrondissement in the west of Paris. Away from the major tourist hot spots the surroundings are relatively free from other hotels (and other tourists) and more dotted with shops, bakeries, and cafes where Parisian residents go about their daily lives. There are, however, two metro stations both within a five-minute walk that connect to the Eiffel Tour, Champs-Élysées, and the tourist attractions of central Paris. The Boulevard Périphérique ring road that encircles the capital is also just a mile away, making easy access in and out of Paris by car.

Rooms

Dated though clean and well-equipped apartments, some with glimpse of the Eiffel Tour

The Hotel Home Paris 16 has 17 apartments in total, spread over two wings of the property. Although clean and well maintained, in general decor is dated and lacking finesse, with mismatched designs and old-fashioned furnishings -- though some may find touches such as decorative fireplaces, wallpaper, and plaid fabrics quaint and homey. Modern tech includes flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and Wi-Fi. All apartments include well-equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, and most bathrooms have been well renovated and include L'Occitane products. The immediate area is generally quiet, but soundproofing is nonexistent so expect the usual urban background noise. Also be warned that some rooms are only accessible via stairs. On a more positive note, you can get a crane-neck view of the Eiffel Tour from some higher level rooms.

Features

Quiet and leafy central courtyard and private parking

Being an apartment hotel there's not a great deal in the way of facilities, however there is a welcome kit of refreshments on arrival as well as daily cleaning service and change of linen every three out of four nights. Attentive staff are also on hand to help with the likes of grocery shopping and booking transport, and there is also a self-service laundry in the basement of the building. A quiet and leafy central courtyard also provide a place to unwind with a croissant from the next door boulangerie. Guests with their own transport also have access to nearby private parking.
